Cross refference Bosch chart found on web.
http://apps.bosch.com.au/products/sa...on_modules.pdf
I stumbled accross this Bosch referrence chart on the web. It notes some interesting cross refference items for owners of Bosch ignition systems.
The 85-86 Volvo 740 uses:
the same Bosch "impulse sender"(crank refference sensor) Bosch part number 0 261 210 003 as the EZK 928... And Bosch 0 261 210 002 is the same sensor with a slightly shorter lead that will also work on our 928s... The Bosch 0 261 210 002 runs on average $30 cheaper than the 003....
Also the same distributor cap and rotor
Also the same ignition module.
I don't know if this is common knowledge or not... just thought I'd share.

Common knowledge to Aussies at least
Seriously tho' - the Bosch Australia pdf's are about the most useful cross-reference source for Bosch stuff. They have a variety of different ones up there.
As an aside - I'm using two of the volvo distributor caps in my '89. The internal part is identical to the Porsche ones, down to the same Bosch part number - however the black outer plastic cover has to be removed or swapped for a Porsche one to fit, as the volvo black cover doesn't quite fit into the recess in the timing belt cover properly.
The Volvo rotor is different however.. per the "Ignition Parts" PDF, which is consistent with my discussions with a local volvo fanatic who is also a 928 enthusiast.
You can find the full set of PDF catalogues linked from here
