Cup II wheels - 8" X 17" et 70 - gone
I discovered these wheels a few years back, and concluded they were the ideal wheel for the front of a 928 - if you like the Cup II design. The OE wheels on late GTS's were Cup II (after the first 15-20 cars built in '94, as the early GTS's had Cup I's). Both designs were 7.5" et 65 fronts and 9" et 55 rears. These rears in Cup II were the same as used on 911's of the type 993 vintage, and are pretty broadly available. The 8" et 70 gives you a wider wheel with the centerline of the tire within ~1mm of where it is with the 7.5" et 65 wheel - so there is no change in driveability.
These 8" et 70's are the proverbial hens teeth. I have run across 2 sets in the past 5 years since I started searching (these were OE rear "winter" wheels on the 993's). I've had several Rennlisters indicate interest if I ever ran across another set.
All that background is info relating to a set of these wheels - OE Porsche - that I came across at the Porsche Swap Meet in Hershey PA today. The wheels are true, but will need refinishing. I did not buy them, as the best price I could negotiate was a higher than I was willing to "invest" in - without someone willing to buy them from me (I already have a set for the front of my 94 GTS).
I'm pretty confident I can buy these - if they didn't sell after I left the swap meet today - for $500 for the pair. I don't have pictures, so you'll have to take my word that they have scratches, and perhaps minor rash, but nothing major that I could see.
IF you are willing to pay this amount for these wheels (I'll try to get them for ~$450, as if they didn't sell, he may negotiate!), please SEND ME A PRIVATE MESSAGE ASAP. If I'm going to pursue this, I have to do it no later than Monday, as I'm leaving for ~ 2 weeks in Europe on Tuesday.
Shipping, of course would be in addtion to the cost of the wheels.
IF you want them refinished before receiving, there is an excellent refinishing shop nearby that would probably do that for ~$125 per wheel.
As usual, the first person to COMMIT to buy these wheels before 8 AM EDST on Monday 4/27 would have first priority on buying them. Any later commitment would have later "dibs", depending on time the PM was sent.
Best wishes,

Adrian,
I've never seen the cup II 9" with et 70 in the USA. Also, in order to keep the centerline of the wheel in approximately the same place as the OE 7.5 et 65, the 9" wheels would have to have an offset et in the range of 80 - 85. Don't think those are around.
Cheers,
Gary Knox
