Yes, sorry for the misused terminology, Wally. I remembered it as being a pre-1989 ignition relay, but that isn't the case now that I look at the part catalog again.

It's a relay, though... I got that part right! :-) And it does bypass the ignition monitoring circuit. That's two correct answers!

Yes, I am aware that the ignition monitoring circuit is supposed to perform an important safety function, but mine was not behaving correctly - there was no problem with my ignition, but it was crippling my car. Can't have that...

It takes very little time, actually. IIRC, you will need to remove the air filter housing to get a hand back there.
I'll see what I can do, my hands are pretty big; only have a five year old girl--thinking those hands are a little too small...
