Kinesis Wheel Repair (SUCESS!)
I cant believe how nice the repair job turned out for the outer section of rim. the damage was pretty severe in a very small area of the front rim and about 180 degrees worth of damage on the rear. they bend it back out under temp and then weld up any voids. after that, its put a lathe and machined to the same shape as before and polished. They look brand new. Impossible to even find the part that was welded. Illl have a looksy when i pull these tires off in a month or two, but I suspect them to be repaired well and to be structurally sound. (the bead area wasnt really damaged to begin with)
Anyway, Wheel Techniques in Santa Clara, Ca is the company.
Very nice work and reasonably priced.

Hey Mark,
Just FYI, I did some extensive research and found several places that can make Kinesis outers (included my reverse outers I had to source from Forgeline). Just in case you have one beyond repair, a new polished outer will run you about $200.
The Forgeline guys are great (speak to a guy named Scott) if you ever need any parts, including valve stems.

Thanks Mark, great information. The repair cost about 175, but that included mounting. I think structurally, i wasnt as worried about doing this kind of a repair. a little more serious, and I would have gone with the new rim outer. Mark A hooked me up with a source that was extremely helpful in trying to get the rim outers from someone in Canada. However, they had a two same rim minimum, so I would have had to buy 4 outers. Anyway, it all worked out.
Thanks for the note. I HOPE i can stay out of the rookie's way next time he wants to use me as a bump stop.
