Heinrich I have now a set of absolutely mint 7" and 9" club sport style rims, they were not originally mint! Much like the set in the pics they had some trouble. I cut up an old S4 wheel and used it as a welding rod. That way the alloy will match when anodized otherwise it wont. I still have one welding rod left for a rainy day.

Otherwise you can use 5335 rod which has 5% magnesium which is the closest match to the Fuchs wheel. It is a big job to properly polish these wheels. If you are going to restore these wheels, you need to strip the anodize, repair, polish, then start the anodize process which is quite a long process. Any faults left behind in the polish stage you will see in the new anodizing.

I polished the rims with the anodizing still on them, that was very difficult, also when you polish the wheels or if you get someone to do it for you, make sure they don't polish all the features out of the wheels. That is rounding off all edges, have a look at the holes where the wheel nuts goes, that is a classic area for a wheel polisher to destroy.

Feel free to laugh, as it'll likely be 20 years (if ever) before they will sell at that price, I'm in no rush- they're pretty garage art in the mean time. Sets come up occasionally for a lot less than this but these are perfect and need nothing. I'd like to see them go to a concours '89GT that's only missing its wheels but it'll be a long time before the collector market is ready for this.
Does that include the tires? Maybe I'll be able to take them off your hands before the rubber dry rots.

Dam Greg you are scary thorough. If I lived in Australia, I think I'd drive past your house once a week looking for a 928 with a sale sign in the window. Whoever buys one of your cars will be certainly getting a treat.

Thanks, she's available. Then I'd be that much closer to those wheels.

Mike-

Unfortunately I sold the tires that were on them to Ron Perry.
