Passed the state safety and emissions inspection today.
It is good to know that the emissions check consists of visual inspection of the smoke that comes out of the tail pipe. Hood was not opened and no equipment was used. It must be that model year '87 is old enough.

MA changed the laws earlier this year, no more smogging of older vehicles. I used to cringe when the put my car on the dyno, always feared the worst but luckily never had any problems.

I tried ordering one of these but unfortunately the wrong part was shipped. I was also under the impression that these were not included with the 87 - 91 928's, only the GTS, am I wrong?

The cap usually goes missing about the same time as the undertray disappears....

My '89 didn't have the tow eye cover from the factory. I guess I need to get one and blacken it next time I have the airbrush out for stone damage repairs.

So.... how does it compare to the M5 you had for the winter? BTW That car looks like mine did before all the surgery. Also lift your rear floor mat and look for the white decal with the options codes. See if it lists option 220. Oh and see if there are hinges on the rear wing, or give it a firm tug and see if it flips up.

I like the car very much and it exceeded my expectations. But it's a 928, so it has issue, no issues would be unnatural. Below are some:
1. The hydraulic or pneumatic arms that are supposed to keep the hood open seem to slip.
2. One of the hoses connected to the oil filler neck is loose
3. The triangle at the upper front corner of the driver side side window has rugged edge, while passenger side does not (sorry about unfocused photo)
4. The dash has small cracks between the vents on the passenger side
5. One of the HVAC system air flap guides in the center console is split from the left side

OK, seriously, you have about the most minor list of issues I have ever seen.
1. Common wear item. I think less than $30 for new ones.
2. Glue it in. That is an unmetered air leak that could affect the idle, so at least try to seat it for now.
3. That triangle is super easy to replace.
4. Those are the most minor of dash cracks and actually can be fixed with a cheap vinyl repair kit. Or you can put a vent kit in that mimics the later vent style and covers the cracks.

What you don't want are any cracks in the padded dash body area or the pod. Those are much harder to deal with. Protecting the interior from heat or rapid temperature changes is key to preventing worse cracks.
5.That's a deal killer. Anyway, it can be replaced if you decide not to return the car.

My 89, bought from the fastidious original owner, did not come with one. So, I ordered the cover thinking it should have been there but then noticed the bumper had no hole for the screw, so it was never there to begin with.
