I have yet to try the Evans stuff. But everyone that has, I have heard raving reviews about it.
I just wish it wasnt so expensive

Rockcrete, do you have a source locally, or buy it south?

rockcrete: Are you using this in your 928? I read over the FAQ. They seem to indicate there are higher running temperatures but this is safe because there is no water vapor in the cooling jacket and no detonation. They mention seemingly crazy numbers like 250-260F as OK. My digital dash would be on constant alarm. So, does your car run hot? Also, they describe a need for system mods in many cars (freer flowing T-stat or T-stat bypass). Is this not the case in the 928? How did you get the water out of the heater core?

Bill,
I do happen to know that rockcrete is looking for a 928, but as of yet does not have one. So he could not have possibly ran it in one.
He is stating this from experiance with possibly his WRX, or GTR.
As to getting the water out of the core, that is nothing disconnecting the heater valve and pushing some compressed air through wouldnt fix.

I'm not buying into the marketing on this coolant but I'm always curious to know if others have tried something and if they have had luck with it.
I've also heard of Evans cooling years ago but again I don't know anyone with immediate experience running it and the reality is that many claims can't be proved without long term testing.
As far as Amsoils oils, I do think they are better than Mobil 1 and Valvoline which I've compared it too in my 500E. They maintain viscosity better and reduce startup noise and lifter noise considerably. That was my experience anyway for what its worth.

Ummm - OK
I'm using the Amsoil product but still end up changing it every 2 years on the 928. Normally, because I've had to take something apart.
It's a good product. Anything I can do to reduce corrosion with my boosted motor is a plus and the idea that it "stops leaks" also was a selling point to me
again considering the original head gaskets etc.
Now...back to hiding.![ducking](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/icon107.gif)

How long have you been running the Amsoil product?

Are you doubting the amazing abilities of their proprietary elements
Amsoilcoolium and Amsoilubium.
All it takes is a miniscule quantity added to their coolant and lubricant to create a superior product.

What would a radiator look like after it's been run with 250,000 mile coolant in it.

AMSOIL Antifreeze & Coolant is dyed neutral yellow and .... other organic acid technology (OAT) and hybrid organic acid technology (HOAT) formulations.
219° F at 40 percent concentration
222° F at 50 percent
225° F at 60 percent
222° F at 50 percent
225° F at 60 percent
Zerex description lists 330f boiling point on this Grainger website -

Might be the Zerex only boiling point, no water dilution. Just goes to show you the importance of a good pressure cap on a cooling system
increase by 40° to 45° F if a 15 psi radiator cap is used

I'd like to try the Evans stuff, but I seem to be draining my coolant every other month to work on something lately so I'll hold off until I think the system will be assembled for a while.

I've personally only used the Evans on diesels that had a propensity for overheating and cracking cylinder heads with regular coolant.
It works on them.
As far as the modifications, it depends if you're looking at the NPG or the NPG+, they're both different.
Much like you guys I'm constantly taking things apart and not rich, so I don't have it in them. When I run the Targa Newfoundland, it will be in my GT-R race car though. There isn't anything mysterious about it, it's just simple physics how it works.........
