You found it!

I'd say if you're looking for some interesting mods and non-standard setups, do a search on Porken. I don't know what year you're working with, but he's posted some very interesting discussions and modifications he's considered over the years, and many are currently in use by himself and others.

Sterling was the first one to respond to your thread, he's designed and hand-built a 6.4 liter custom variocam stroker with custom exhaust. (Click on his 928sg info link to check it out).

What MY is your car? Or are you just looking to see what's out there for all years? As Sterling said, most mods are pretty mild (or the ones discussed here) but if you search and are patient you can find:

Superchargers
Turbochargers
The E-Ram electric fan induction system
Strokers
Injection mods (Megasquirt, others)
Chip and ECU mods
Exhaust mods (headers, x-pipes/crossovers, RMBs, side pipes)
Engine swaps to a Chevy crate engine
A car with a 928 engine in a 914 chasis (I think he calls it the alien)
Various cold air intake setups, intake plenum arrangements and intake spacers
An automatic timing belt tensioner to eliminate the antiquated original design (by Porken)
Various oiling setups (dry sumps, windage trays, crank scrapers, 'drilling the crank like a Chevy'...)
Various suspension modifications and additions to reinforce the frame, cut down slop in the steering
Brake upgrades for the earlier years
Larger than stock wheels, wider than stock wheels, and REEEEAAALLLLYYY wide wheels
Body mod setups and fender flares (and ways to 'roll your own')
Interior mods that include the 'rear seat delete' (again, Sterling's example is top notch) as well as racing seats, steering wheels, partial and full roll cages, CF dashes, short shifters, recently a shift mod that eliminates one of the shift linkages, and quite a few more.
There are incredible stereo, video, GPS, back-up cameras, data logging and car PCs in some cars that would make most tuners jealous.

While most of this site tends to lean toward the conservative and the traditional, there is a strong and vocal group who continually try new things and see what else can be done with this incredible platform.

If you are interested in anything in particular drop me a PM and I'll see if I can refer a thread to check out.

The best "tuning" available is to 1st get the 928 to its factory specs... that means replacing all the sensors and making sure its operating within factory specs 1st...

+1

Then add an RMB...
drive, rinse repeat and then when you know more and ALL your maintenance is up to date and the car is boring you because there is nothing ever to do except enjoy it......... THEN look into some more serious mods.

My order of importance: maintenance, appearance, suspension, sound, performance... .02c

It should.
Once a 928 is up to 100% factory specs as you mentioned, no reason why an experienced tuner (armed with a Shark Tuner) wouldn't be able to fine tune the LH/EZK on a 928. This is even more important after an X-pipe or any other form of free flowing exhaust is installed (or any power upgrades).

Unless Greg travels for tuning, shipping a 928 from Memphis to L.A. is a bit extreme. I'm sure there are some very knowledgeable tuners in his area.
The "new" consumer based Shark Tuner John is working on should make this a more realistic option.

If I did not have access to Luke at Beyond Redline to tune my cars, I would join of EFI 101 and hire one of Ben Strader's tuners if not Ben himself (actually I'm already a member and a graduate and I still hire Luke to do my tuning).
There is nothing special about tuning a 928 over any other internal combustion powered automobile.

I've watched tuners like my friend Luke extract 15-20+ rwhp out of 100% stock cars like Mustangs and Corvette's on a regular basis. The factory tunes on these cars are very generic and conservative, just like the 928.

Tuner has a pretty wide definition. Not really sure what that includes, just chips? ceramic headers? Search is your friend. Think Hacker's link takes you to Carl's 928 Motorsports for SC. Dave Roberts, 928 Specialists also sells a set-up.

The link in my signature it takes you to Murf928.com - the home of the supercharger kit seen in my avatar. Carl is one of the distributors.
