Default RPM's and Bad Battery?

From reading other post about RPM flucuation, and how throttel cable adjustments and MAF circut boards going bad may be a cause, I have one more.
Before I put the car on jack stands she ran with a small RPM flucuation and a tad of engine hunting while on a downhill slope with foot off of gas pedal.

During the COLD winter, I had to replace the battery as it died. After replacing the battery the RPM's, after car warmed, stayed at an even 750 RPM.

Question, could a battery on it's way out cause RPM fluctuation? Car is still on jack stands and hasn't been under any load. Just curious.......

If the battery has an intermittent problem I guess it could by providing a fluctuating big load to the alternator causing it to load up the engine at idle enough to cause some fluctuations - typically this would be short slowdowns from stock idle - I don't really see it would cause it to idle faster consistently - maybe just a little blip faster as the load comes off. Its quite likely at these times that you'd see the voltmeter dip substantially lower as the alternator struggles..

It should not much affect regular running at 1500+ RPM

Usually a battery doing this has very little time left...
