Yes they do work but with a 265 tyre you will have a litle tyre outside of the of the wheel arch.

Are you going to use the 996 wheel 996 362 140 04 ?

I think these also decrease steering from lock to lock so turning radius gets bigger?

I have a set of 4 with 285's mounted and I ran them on my 89' GT. The front sidewall was out past the fender but the tread area was not. I had no rubbing issues at all. They do throw water and dust up though. I don't seem to have a picture showing the fender clearance but they are on the car in my sig pic below.
I took them off in favor of a set of polished clubsports.

Kevin,

I've had the 18 X 10 et 65 Sport design wheels (like you saw) on the front of the GTS with 295/30 tires. Yes - they do stick out a bit, and yes, they do rub on the inner frame when the steering is at full turn. Didn't seem to have fender contact in any normal driving. I prefer the 7.5" et 50's, however in this design for the front, and the 10" et 65's on the rear. Don't know about the 8" et 50's on the front, but they probably would work as well (one of those is on eBay right now). By the way, I have an extra set of those Sport Design 10 spoke 18 X 10" et 65's, in case you are interested.

Kevin,

They will fit, but the rim edge will be outside the fender line. On my 1980 Euro S I run 17*9.5 60mm offset rims at all four corners with no problems. I run 255/40 tires and the entire tread area inside the fender line. My car is 10mm lower than the stock spec for ride hight, due to old springs. I did have to double up on the rack bumpers to keep the rim from hitting the lower control arm at full lock. Your set up has 6.35 mm of additional with on the outside edge of the rim than mine but you have an additional 5 mm of offset making you rim 1.35 mm farther out than my setup. As I said I run 255/40's which would b a little narrow for a 10" wide rim.

Hi Gary,

Can you tell me why you prefer the 7.5" ET50's? Is it because they track better?

I have a line on a set of 8" and 11" factory 18" turbo twists that I may pick up depending on the offsets. One of the rears has a crack, so I have to check that out and see how bad it is, and if it can be safely repaired.

I already have a nice set of aftermarket 18" turbo twists, 8.5 & 10's, so in no rush to buy this other set, but it 'might' give me the option to go with 10's on the front, and 11's on the back (again depending on offsets), for no particular reason except that I like the look.

Thanks,

Ed

Because a 7.5" ET50 wheel does not sit the same distance from the fender as i.e. an 8" ET50 wheel. ET is measured from the center of the wheel, so measuring 50mm from 3.75" is not the same as from 4".

This is good info so far. I have new factory 18 twists, turbo 2 or something like that. 11's out back with 295's. I found a pair of the same but in 10" ET 65 and I was thinking of running a 275 up front and making this 928 look menacing in the front as it is in the rear. Gary when you say set, do you mean 1 pair?

IMO a 10" wheel with any offset will not fit properly on a 928 without fender mods. Just for kicks I tried putting my rear 18x10" ET65 wheels on the front of my old '86 and it really looked bad. The tire was sticking out past the fender to the point where it looked like one of those ricers.

thats not true. Ive used and so has scot, the 10" rim with 8.5" backspacing, as it fits the same as the 9.5 with the 8" backspacing. That offset works out to be around 85mm.

I forgot to say on a street car that doesn't require doubling up steering rack stops to avoid rubbing on the inside...
