Several years ago many of us got together and bought fiberglass rear wings from Better Bodies. The mounting tab on one side was wrong, and would not bolt to the stock S4 hatch without drilling. The mount screws on one side were too close together as I remember. Of course this doesn't matter on a pre-S4, since you would drill new holes anyway. So make sure they get the mounts correct this time.
Correct. I was the leader that lead the troups on this one - and it did not go well. Everyone got what they bought, but what we bought sucked monkey *****. Probably for this reason I have never lead another group buy. Seriously - they sucked. Bad, twisted fit, heavy, holes in the wrong place, etc.

I did a little research regarding the previous frustration with the last wing iteration from Best Bodies. I spoke with 928 Intl and with the owner of Best Bodies. Seems there is a fair amount of manipulation of the mounting points on the wing for each cast as it comes out of the mold. This means variance in the mounting bits which = not good. To correct this situation the owner of BB is seeking a used hatch from a S4 so he can build a jig so they can directly test fit each wing. To me, this would solve the mounting issues and produce a true bolt on for the S4/GT's.

FWIW - I'm not sure BB fully understood the S4/GT already had a wing. They thought they were making them for wingless cars and owners who wanted to put one on - which meant everyone needed to drill holes for mounting so the exact placement of the mount points was not as critical. So now we may have a solution that will work well for those of us with S4/GT's.

BB knew the S4 had a wing. Thats why they were selling them at that time as a replica. They knew they would be going on the hatch of cars already having wings.

The exact placement of the mounting points *is* critical when the holes and fittings in the wing, in the fiberglass, would make the wing visibly crooked, and to make it straight visibly on the car, it looks crooked underneath on the metal hatch.
I worked on my wing for hours. HOURS - to make it smooth and outgas the fiberglass and make sure there were no pin-holes (I painted it to match the car) It then split open like an over-ripe pumpkin because the
fiberglass was under so much twisting stress internally from the (too thick) layers.

Do as you choose.
