Drive it and get to know it..Maybe you will see the other 5-speed 928 heading to the east coast of Florida.

Still no word from seller. He refuses to take my calls or respond to my emails. He is a Dr. in NJ. Sounds like sellers remorse.

If it's for real...and he owns another hot car....and he's a doctor...you may be OK. Doctors can be very busy people and getting rid of a $20K car may just be an irritation. They often don't have time nor patience to dink around with little stuff. Keep us posted as we can live part of our lives vicariously through you and your roadtrip adventure.

I bought my 968 in Atlanta and drove it 3K miles in a week. I was lucky. Solid car...but picked up a nail in Missouri. Got new wipers in Denver. I flew back with a basic tool set in my bags.

Good luck.

I emailed him as well on 3/17 and 3/20 asking for detailed photos and a phone call. I received neither.

I emailed him before the sale as well but no response. I did speak to his secretary yesterday while he was seeing patients. He was supposed to call me last night but did not. I found his cell number from his Ferrari ad but no answer. We will see.

H2; what about those 968s? They seem like sweet pieces of work...but that pinion gear issue. What is the likelyhood of a real remedy? Are there techs who can genuinely set the preload properly?

Amending this: PM me on this if you get a chance. I should avoid hijacking the thread.

I spoke to seller and it looks like a go. He is the true absent minded seller. My plan is to pick it up and drive To Washington, DC and get it on the Auto Train to Florida. Look for me heading south on Sunday.

Default Headed to Florida with fan trouble in new 91 gt

I flew to NJ this morning to pick up my ebay suprise. It was nicer than I expected. He was the original owner who has run into financial difficulty and needs to unload some cars. In his garage was a Viper, Ford GT40, 996, and some motorcycles. His Ferrari is in another garage.

The 928gt was better than pictured. It is in outstanding shape with recent service done at dealer. It even has the original Porsche clear bag to put your dirty tire in.

I left NJ with my son and headed to Wash, DC. As I was headed over the Delaware bridge I hit a bump and all hell broke loose. Lost all power, all warning lights came on, coughed and sputtered and then car alarm started going off all while I am about halfway up the bridge with no shoulder. I made it to the bottom and checked the battery box. PO had put new battery in and not secured it so it hit the battery door and started shorting when I hit the bump. Used the tire bag as an insulator and made it to DC with no problems.

When I stop both cooling fans continue to run and only stop when I open the hood. I have pulled both plugs to stop them from running tonight while parked at the hotel. Do I have a bad relay? If so which one?

I will be leaving here around noon and heading to Lorton, VA to get on the Auto Train and on to Florida. I plan to stop at Autosportsystems in Fairfax, Va. first thing in the morning on they way and have them take a quick look. Ray did a great job getting the AC going in my sons 1989 last week.

Here is a picture of the two 928s at the Iwo Jima Memorial(yes my son is a Marine!)

Glad to hear it is in great condition. Sorry, can't help with the fans - somebody here will know. GL with the rest of the trip. More pics when you get a chance.

Good for you Walter. Looks like you picked up a cherry for a very good price.

Enjoy the rest of the trip!

Congrats on a killer deal on a one-owner GT ('91 is the best year for GT's, BTW)
Wish you had more time here in DC. If you get waylayed for any reason, let me know. It'd be neat for a couple of black on gray '91 GTs to see one another.
