I'm pleased to say that out of respect to this community, Sterling has agreed to let us restore all his posts. He may be less active for a while, but his technical contributions will remain intact.

The restoration will probably happen later as I am concerned that searching for and restoring over 1,200 posts may drag the site down some.

Here is a big THANK YOU to Sterling!
Regards,

I suspect this took a bit of back alley arm twisting, and some rather skilled negotiations. Ya done good Bob, et al.

That is great news! Sterling has had one of the best signal-to-noise ratios with his posts, and if he left for good he would truly be missed.

@Sterling: In the past 8 years since you signed up you have seen people come and go -- this too shall pass.

We should be kissin' Sterling's rear quarter for this good news. Anyone who can conceive and actually build a much enhanced 928 like he has can contribute a wealth of experienced information to those of us who are unwashed. A lot of us may have dreamed about the "928 engine that Porsche would have built in 1997" but Sterling just did it. If you haven't you should go to his web site and read about his car. The only thing lacking, in my view, is PorKen's tensioner. I wonder how long it will be before PorKen builds and tries to improve on Sterling's 928 engine?

What has been fantastic has been the communication behind the scenes. Bob, Gretch, and a couple of others have taken the time to find out the true back story to what has been going on here. For a lot of us it's not top secrete.

Sterling is has been a bit undecided whether to post around these parts again due to looking like another kids we've been playing with, who decided one day to say he was going to sell his 928, leave the forums, and never come back. This person did not do as he stated and Sterlings worries are now that he will be lumped in the jackass category as someone else we know of. I told him not to sweat it, at least he has something to contribute. That, and the mods did listen.

Now if we can keep the BS off of here, along with the other forums we all frequent, things will be just peachy, but after reading some of the bull**** posted at Reutterwerk (Hacker put that down quick) and Pelican (Z-man put that down quick too) things might just go back to normal. Let's pray that the BS does go away so we can carry on.

Bob, huge thanks for the phone calls, getting to know the players in the game, and understanding where each is coming from. Gretch, keep it real.

This is the best news I've heard all day. Good job, Bob, and Sterling, thank you for allowing the rest of us to continue to benefit from your vast store of knowledge. Hopefully this will be the end of all of this.
