OK, got it. Have you heard of anyone machining the PP surface? I'm sure it's possible but I don't see how you would positively position it, since the best you could do is clamp against the rear face of the fingers. Since those are stamped then heat treated, I would think that it would be a bit tough to guarantee that the PP face is parallel to the fulcrum.

I missed addressing this question earlier. My personal preference would be to have a properly-equipped machinist check the balance, as I did with mine -- it was within 0.1g but very little material was removed. Have the whole FW/PP/starter ring assembly balanced and indexed if you're going to do it.

The benefit to doing so is reduced vibration and increased rear main bearing life at minimum.

This could be a possibility , your own flywheel ground till cracks are gone & then an insert fitted ? (at least I think thats what they do )
