Jim Bailey no longer with 928 International

Best of luck to you Jim! I always enjoyed talking to you and you've provided great advice and service over my 22 years of 928 ownership! You even let me take your very brown car out for a spin by myself the first time I met you in person. A class A guy in my book!

You guys that are between gigs, welcome to the wild and wonderful world of consulting. You are the best at what you do, and there are folks who need your services. Twice in my life I've been turned loose to find a new direction. One of those was voluntary, the other was not unexpected and had an escape clause I didn't exercise. Both events turned out to be very positive. I refocused my attentions to things that I enjoy doing, polished up my marketing skills so that others would feel like paying me to do what I love. It took a while the first time to get the ball rolling again. Second time I didn't miss a step. I hate to say things like "you'll be better and stronger for this!" but it really is true. It may not be better tomorrow or the next day, but you will pop up and be better in the long run.
You could travel all over the place doing this, making house calls! With me, you'd get free room and board, great cooking by my wife, a beautiful location, close to Yellowstone, and a fair hourly consult rate for time helping me work on the car. Other expenses could be negotiated
I'm sure others might consider this too, and think of your travel opportunities!

I don't think Bailey cares what you call him unless of course it's late to the dinner table

Jim, I think that you should seriously consider doing some 928 consulting. Spend a couple of days driving to a customer's house, spend a few days pointing and saying, "You need to...". Eat their food, sleep in their spare bed, let them show you around their town, then move on to the next project. Take the wife with you, and let her explore the antique shops...
I'll bet that the list could keep you busy and semi-paid for months!

Kind thoughts but you over estimate my mechanical abilities and just as I NEVER drive student's cars when instructing at the track I really do not like to work on other peoples cars. If I break something on my car I can live with that. One of the reasons I stopped being a stock broker/ financial planner/ bank trust officer many years ago was the responsibility of betting other peoples MONEY ....that business requires an enormous ego and a very short memory. With six dogs in the houshold five Italian Greyhounds and one Whippet (everyone needs to have a Whippet) travel is difficult. Plus Roxann , my wife after retiring from one bank after a year and one half of "vacation" took a position with another so I am pretty committed to staying in Costa Mesa a couple miles from the beach I do drive to Lubbock Texas from time to time to see my daughter that is usually a one day drive but next time I head East I may well have more "free" time but I tend to get too focused on just getting there.

I'm not sorry at all to hear this. Mark Anderson is a great guy, his business has always been above board and unselfish, and Jim Bailey is one of the nicest people I have ever met, not to mention one of the most knowledgeable 928 parts people in the world.
Sometimes people part ways. No need to view it as a sad or bad thing. Jim, Mark, I wish you both all the very best in life. I do hope you will both continue contributing to the great extent you have, to the 928 community. Best wishes, Heinrich

In the last three months I have laid off five engineers and it was personally tough to do. Last week my boss laid me off and toke my job. I thought I was the best engineer they had? It's tough times, it's about survival and sometimes the best end up unemployed.
Jim take some time to recover and if I can help let me know...it is my turn to help you. Start a phone service/hot line and charge by the minute. You will be surprised how many of us will call.
928 intl is a wonderful place, Mark is a great owner with tough challenges. Jim keep in touch with us all and keep your old friends close to you. Mark did what he had to do and I would hate to be in his shoes.
Tom always covered Jim's "6" when Jim was doing his job, (selling, social salemen). Great guy.
Take care,
Carl
