So I purchased a hood badge off ebay. The sellers pic was a hood badge with the letters PORSCHE in black (OEM has the letters in gold).
To my surprise ebay guy sent me letters are in gold.![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)
Does the hood badge with Black letters exist to fit my 1982 hood???

The hood badge with black letters is the newer style. There are many versions of hood badges over the years. The one you have is period correct for all 928's IIRC. IIRC the black lettering started in 1999.
Can you tell me is the badge you have solid in the back or is it more like a stamping? I have a few badges floating around, new never installed. I believe I have one with black lettering. If the one you have is a stamping I would be happy to trade it for one of the ones i have with black lettering.
BTW if you are replacing your badge because the clear is cracking. This usually occurs from closing the hood by pushing on the badge. Most people push on the badge to close their hoods. This should not be done as it eventually damages the badge. Although the newer style solid back versions (made in china) don't seem to be as much of an issue.

I put a newer (Boxster) hood badge on the 79 and it was a little more 3 dimensional. Black PORSCHE as you described. Same one going on the GTS here pretty soon.

Interestingly I was teching cars at Watkins Glen this past weekend and the '09 have an entirely new hood badge perfectly flat without any raised parts. It looks like a sticker compared to the older style.

There were a few 968s that had recessed badges. The hood itself was indented and the badge fit down into the indent which made it smooth. I liked it better than the badge sitting on top of the hood.

IIRC the Boxster is the same way. I would rather push on the badge then finger prints on the paint.

yes, 1st like 120 or so had a recessed badge and it's flat, not concaved
