Your car is your car and you can do what you want with it, but if you're going to take pics of it and post them for the world to see, you might want to clean it up a bit and make sure it looks presentable. That's all I'm sayin'

Reads like you took my statement personally.

I've bought 928s in that had worse going on the "zip ties" on the airbox. Heck, I bought my first 928 sight-unseen with no more than a Polaroid or two. Car (80 928 AT) had lots of warts but it was still great. Heck, it's a 928 anyway you look at it.

Okay, so the seller (or clown as you so succinctly put it) may not be versed in the art of ebay ad placement. There could be many reasons for that. But keep in mind, his reserve may be reasonable... and/or the car may be a "diamond in the rough".

I would say that unless your are interested in this car, these negative statements about his ebay ad, and car thereof, serve no productive end.

I believe I share similar sentiment to the folks on here that are getting sick of seeing threads and posts of this nature. My point here is feel free to take it personally if that is what you want.

Threads like this just go to prove we make up less than 1% of current 928 owners. No offense but the rest of the world doesn't subscribe to the "concours or go home" mentallity..

Couple mistakes in the listing but nothing beyond what an "average" 928 owner would do. Not everyone is a fanatic like we are. To some it's just a fun car to drive for a year or two before moving on. Heck I had mine almost 2 years before I found Rennlist, almost 3 years later I'm still just a young Padawan in the ways of the 928...

Sorry but if I had just bought that 928 and then came here for knowledge, I'd leave right away thinking, "What a bunch of dicks." Just saying.

Or being personally flamed for your first post? I wouldn't come back.

I agree with you.

That was my point in post 19. Try to make Arakronn feel welcomed. As he should be, yes?

My sarcastic post #18 really didn't help the thread along, just trying to be funny. ( Which my humor is somewhat dry and morbid)

We can discuss or comment our differing opinions and views without making things personal, like RicerSchnitzzle's post (which is not attacking anyone), can't we?

(Not to be misunderstood, RicerSchnitzzle's post is a good example of expressing different opinion without making it personal to anyone)

Anthony,
Oooo, was that a flame? Might have been my first one.... then again, maybe not.

I guess if I were to chose a first post, some innocent chiding might be a way to break into a group such as ours. Esp considering it seems to be a RL pastime.

I think what really threw me off though, was this attitude I see here may be infectious.... and his first post was the effect of such.

When you see stupid crap like these pics you just have to wonder what else was NOT done, will need to be redone, is going to fall off or blow up... It is an Ebay ADVERTISEMENT to SELL YOUR CAR you need to make the car look presentable AT LEAST! Take 30 minutes and wash, and vacuum the thing and don't show the parts of the car that make you look like a total YAHOO when it comes to caring for a very expensive car!

You may be right about the car Jim... If you can get it for $3500 it would probably be fun. If you think $6k is a good deal on this thing, then let me sell you a REAL 928S for $7k that you WON'T have to worry about or be embarrassed by the first time you show up to a car event! This car looks worse than either of my parts cars when I bought them!

Nobody here is running down 928's or we wouldn't even be here to read post #1.

I think the general consensus of those that disapprove of this ebay listing is that the owner blows sugar up the winning bidder's *** with a golden description and mega-****ty pictures. The buyer takes delivery of a piece of **** that has 1000x more problems than the listing mentioned, and he then hates 928's forever and tells all his buddies they are all junk and cost too much to maintain etc etc.

Example taken from listing: "There is no airconditioning as the belts were removed." Yeah ok put a $15 belt on that car and hold your breath for cold A/C...... It would probably cost $600 to $1200 to get the A/C back online.

Cure: describe the car for what it is, a car that needs a LOT of mechanical and cosmetic work and no collector wants, except as a parts donor. And take some damn decent pictures of the car. This is the 21st century, digital cameras are dropping from gum ball machines now.

As someone said in a previous post, this kind of bull**** keeps our car's values low.

I agree Dave I bought one of those miss represented 928's off Ebay. Been a lot of work to get it half up to par. I could have easily decided 928's are crap in the beginning. Good thing I love a challenge and had the car drivable pretty quick. I was hooked after the first ride and all the looks

PS I especially like the zip ties on the airbox in the black and white picture of the engine. Very artistic touch.

Anthony, you have not been driving your car??? What is wrong with you? In Texas THE BEST TIME TO DRIVE IS NOW! Oct - March are the BEST driving months we have! I LOVE this time of year for driving! My cars get more miles in the winter/fall/very early spring, than any other time...just LOVE Texas winters!
