ABS looking for links how to repair.
85 Euro Lamp on all the time!
Search has not come up with a easy way to diagnose the Abs system. From what I read if the lamp is on it could be a relay issue or module issue. I plan on testing the relay in the Ce but there are two others. Where is the location of the two relays and does anyone have a cheat sheet on how to proceed.

Mark,
I hope it is not one of your sensors on the wheels as they are NLA for 84 through 86 cars that had ABS.
Do not mess up any of the sensor wires when you are checking the system and treat them like GOLD DUST.

I heard that if the abs lamp comes on upon startup its not the sensors. I believe you have to drive for a self test and if the lamp comes on it's a sensor. That may not be true if there is a short. I was very carefully when I worked on the car it's been on since the beginning.

For reference, my symptom is the ABS warning light coming on after rolling forward.

On my 87 the abs would come on at 5mph, turned out to be a damaged wire to the passenger front sensor, replaced the sensor, wire could not be spliced. Problem solved.

[QUOTE=Tampa 928s;6284500]John do those relays fail in series? The input 15 and 31 when voltage is applied does not close the contacts.[/QUOTE
XVII relay has pin 15 from ignition switched 12v. Pin 31 of relay should go to ground.... MPV
When the relay closes it puts 12v from fuse 16 onto pin 1 of the ABS ECU.

Check with an ohmeter that you have a good ground connection from pin 31. (less that 1 ohm)
Then switch on ignition and check you have 12v at pin 15.
Plug in the relay and probe on the relay socket to double check that with ignition on you have 12v on 15 and 0v on pin 31.
If so, the relay should close the contacts.

I bench tested it with my variable power supply also the zener diode shows good so it is not shorting to ground. I think the primary coil winding is open.
