Default 2V engine in-car, but no intake on? Measurements?

Anyone have thier 2V engine in their car but with the intake off? I'd love to know how much room there is between gasket surface of the intake port to the hood front and back.

A stretch, I know, but I thought I would ask.

Thanks!

I have exactly that situation with my track car right now. My hood is off but I can place a straight edge across the fenders and measure up to that.

Stay tuned, I'll run out and measure.

Thanks Dave. Just at the front port and the back port - I am sure they are pretty different.

Back dimension: Measuring from the rear bolt hole up to a straight edge across the tops of the fenders......10.625"

Front dimension: Measuring from the front bolt hole up to the straightedge..8.875"

Thats awesome Dave. Thanks. And you did the top of the fenders, so thats very close to the actual height under the surface.

Thats awesome. Thanks again.

If you are cutting things close...the hood has a slight crown to it, thats a plus, but the hood pad will eat up about a 1/4".

I think what I *may* do is possibly use the current runners, and cut them short, and put velocity stacks on them, and make a new, larger plenum. The hardest part of all this seems to be getting the proper height and finding .125 wall tube that is bent or getting the tube bent, and then making the flange. The flange on the S4 motor has taken me months and its not done.

I may find someone who does good mandrel bending locally, but because I am actually keeping under the hood line for this one, its very limited as your measurements show.
