I'm looking to freshen up the A4 in my 1987 S4 and maybe put in a new TC or re-stall it a bit. Any ideas on a shop that is good with the 928 tranny in central Florida.
Thanks for the help!

while not a Porsche shop per se, the guy to build a converter is John Winters in Rockledge.
JW racing transmissions
He's the best with drag racing converters that I know, maybe he can build one for you.....

Hi Doc GTO,
You would probably be better off contacting the different 928 Rennlist sponsors and asking them about buying rebuilt 928 transmissions. Too many stories about 928ers going to a shop and being qouted a reasonable fee which quickly turns much more expensive and the transmission is not very well done and still has problems. Although the trans itself is a common Mercedes trans, there are certain differences that are Porsche specific and would befuddle most trans shops not familiar with the 928 automatic transaxle system.
Doing a search on this forum for "rebuilt transmissions" and "torque converters" will also be a big help and I would read the threads to glean some more information about what you want to do.
There is also a rebuilder named Steve Cattaneo who haunts these lists from time to time who knows more about the 928 trasnmissons than just about anyone else on this list. Do a search for his name and contact him too, he's somewhere in the Northeast.
Good luck,
Constantine
