Default flywheel help please

Hi:

i have a 84 euro auto that i want to convert to a five speed, i have all the bits (almost) i have a 84 manual flywheel and a 84 auto flywheel. i also have a s4 manual flywheel and a s4 auto flywheel. i have a complete s4 clutch assy and the opportunity to buy a 84 twin plate assy. if i wanted to save myself money and fit the s4 clutch assy what do i have to do about the timing ring on the fly wheel as the s4 clutch is larger than the s2 flywheel?????

the reason i am asking is that i have a spare 32 valve engine that i may put in the car at a later date.... but do'nt want to do now

any comments would be great

thanks

geoff

Geoff,

You are going to have a seriously hard time using the S4 ring as the S4(87+) use a 60-2 timing ring.

The 84 EURO uses a 100-1 ring, with odd sized teeth. You need to use a flywheel/timing ring from 84-86 euro, or 85/86 US. Nothing else will work.

You could however buy Carl's aluminum flywheel and have the 100-1 ring put onto it. Carl might even be able to do that for you.

I personally would stick with the dual clutch setup as it is imo much better.
