Default Looking for some really thick hard rubber to make jack pads

Wasn't sure where else to go for this, usually this group can find anything.

I know a lot of people suggest hockey pucks as jack stand pads. I want to take this one step further and make a pad about the size of 4-5 hockey pucks attached together.

Any ideas where to find some bulk rubber like this? It doesn't have to be as thick as the hockey puck, just using that as an example.

Thanks!

Try your local gravel pit/quary that screens and crushes different sizes of rock.Thier machinery (wash plants) use just what you need in thier equipment. They most likely have scrap pieces laying arond. The rubber material they use is very hard and varies in thickness from 1/2 inch to 1 inch and comes in many widths. They get it in large rolls. Believe me they will gladly give you thier scraps that are laying around.

My wife makes some gluten-free pancakes that would probably fit the bill.

Adam,
I hope your wife is not following this forum. If she reads your post you will find out how comfortable sleeping in a 928 really is. We all look forward to your update on "Sleeping in a 928 untill my wife forgives me"

Hacker,

You can buy these from most Rotary Lift dealers. The pads are about 5" in diameter and they have a stud on the bottom that will fit in most jacks or lift pads.

4 or 5 hockey pucks will be seriously thick...since a standard hockey puck is 1" tall with 3" diameter....do you really want a jack pad 5" tall when the ride height of a stock 928 is quoted at 4.7"....I could guess the jack point is at most 6-7" off the ground.....then you'd need a super thin jack?

shawscove928s & DR - thanks, good options

Andrew and Ice - this isn't 100% for use with a jackstand on a 928. Its primary use it to make lifting a Ferrari easier since the jacking points are a bit odd in the rear. I want to make a pad the size of the lift area (kind of a triangle shape) on the frame for the rear lift point.

A friend sells some discs about 10" in diameter made out of compressed recycled rubber. I think they're about 5/8" thick. His use for them is separating surfboards on a roofrack. It's the same stuff they use for safe playgrounds in place of sand. I'll get his email address and PM it to you.

We use recycled rubber tire stall mats in the horse barns. About 1 inch thick and very firm. If it sounds like what you're looking for I have a bunch of scraps of different sizes laying around I could send you.
