Z4M Coupe - Closest to Modern 928

Surely you mean the four seat 612, rather than the two seat 599.
I was lucky enough to drive my mates brand new 612 on a recent trip to the US. He bought it with 300 miles on the clock, for $100,000 under the sticker price.
It's a big car, with a brutal gear change, and although it's immense size would be a nightmare in the UK, in the US it seemed very practical (depreciation excepted).

Alex P (Cheburator on here) has a Z4M *and* 2 928s including a modded GT racecar.
To be honest the Z is very different to a '28... ride very stiff, engine needs revving to kingdom come, tiny cabin. Nearest thing BMW has is probably the M6.
The Z is brutally quick though. Alex has terrified me round the 'Ring in it a number of times.

Hehe,
I have a Z4M Coupe in Imola Red, which compliments the 928s. There is a lot of a GT in the car, but ultimately it is a highly-strung weekend only beast. When I drive it, it feels like I am straddling an arab stallion, which is only to eager to gallop at full pace. On the other hand, the 928 S2 feels like a battle cruiser at full tilt - steady and fast.
For track work - the BMW is very, very fast in stock form - no standard 928 can keep up with it. Have driven it against 928 race cars in the UK and was neck-in-neck with them. The only criticism is the "health-and-safety" front end set-up, which induces understeer. However, that can be remedied with adjustable top mounts from the likes of KW, Ground Control or K-Mac for around $300.
Overall, BMW has achieved a lot, managing to pack a 343Bhp race engine, gearbox and diff into a 4.7sec 0-60 car 12.7 1/4 mile car, which will still return 30mpg at 80mph on the motorway. But it ain't no 928...

A "budget" 928 I'm sure I'll get flamed for is the last generation Toyota Supra.
