Default Will 275s fit the rear without flairing the fenders?

Without flaring the rear wheel well, I need to know if 275s will fit the rear of the wife's '91S4??? I KNOW that my Kinesis K28Rs with 295s WILL NOT fit without flaring. '90-'91 GTs apparently has a slightly flared fender, but the '90-'91 S4 does not. I had to show her to prove it to her since she wants my wheels soooooo baaaaaad!! I lowered the car down enough to verify that they are too wide & creasing the fender wasn't an option. She wants to one day at least "borrow" for my wheels for events that we only take her car to. So I know that flaring is somewhere in the future.

In the meantime, I want to put wider tread all the way around. The wheels are the aftermarket turbo twists ie: MM/Sport Editions: 9" on the rear & 7.5" on the front. Currently has 225/45s up front & 255/40s in the rear. I want to go with 235/45s up front(which should be just fine) & 275/40s in the rear.

So who out there with an S4 has 275s in the rear & did you have to do any flaring, etc or did they fit ok without any issues? I don't want to risk paying for the 275s then find they are too wide.

With gas as low as it is right now, we plan to bring em both! Unless at the last minute she decides she'd rather be a co-pilot instead of driving.

Hey, just last week I surprised her & had her wing painted white. It was on her wish list. Just ahead of aero mirrors & flared rear fenders! She was ecstatic like a kid at Christmas! Having a car chick for a wife has its advantages, but sometimes its almost scary!!
