Default engine dies past 2200 RPM

Hello,

my 928 S4 runs smooth up to 2200 RPM then the engine stalls and cuts out. We tested for fuelpressure and compression and these are fine. It turns out the injectors lose their signal above 2200 RPM. Could anyone tell me what causes this?

Thanks

Regards

If it is at 2200 every time, I would look at a faulty LH or EZK and/or crank sensor.

If you have an 89 or later S4, it could be your cat temp overheat sensor...which will change the LED color (2 LEDs near your engine computers) to reflect a cutoff. Worth a look.

Also, does it behave any differently with the MAF disconnected (i.e. die at a different RPM level or not die at all)?

Hello,

I haven't checked the MAF, LH and EZK yet. Parts for the 928 are rare here. I do have the durametric software kit and haven't tried it yet. Does it tell you if your LH or EZK are faulty?

Regards

Try to check if the spark dies at the point at which it cuts out. If so, then suspect the engine speed sensor.
