I used this tool and it was an easy, no stress, no weld, no heat, no cussing job. Used my impact to remove nut and the tool and a 1/2in breaker bar for all removal.

Just have to say the 3/4 ratchet...4inch extension and 32mm socket and a 3 ft bar is the way to go.
I bit the bullet today and finally bought a 3/4" drive socket set and the ratchet from HF. I had to go to Sears to get the extenion so i could reach the nut with the wheels on.(it was 27 bucks but the kid gave me 50% off!!!

One hand with a little force and it came loose.
The only way to go. Well under an hour to get the half shafts out.

The Sir Tool kit is great. If you heat the carrier and drop the bearing in, just be careful not to touch the inner race until the temps on the bearing even out. Once dropped in, the outer will start heating up and expand leaving the cooler inner susceptible to coming apart until the whole thing heats up.

The next time I do a RWB, I will take lots of pictures and do a write-up.

All you need is the B90, a bearing splitter, the 3/4 tools for the axle nut and the normal compliment of metric stuff.

In short:
Remove wheel, 1/2 shaft, caliper, brake disc, e-brake.
Use B90 to press out hub and inner race.
Use B90 to press out rest of RWB
Use B90 to press chilled bearing into heated hub.
Use Bearing splitter to remove inner race from hub.
Install e-brake (easier before the hub goes in)
Use B90 to press in hub.
Assemble rest of bits.

Yup..i have a bunch of pictures and some video. The tool is a treat to use. The fact that my whole rear suspension was out of the car made it even easier. I get some time off again next week and will get the tool packed up again to ship to the next one that needs it....however...will it also work for the front bearings?

May as well tackle them if so.... they are original as far as I can tell.

I was bummed as I really thought the noise in the back was mainly due to old bearings...its really the big "waffle tread" on my BFG KDW tires...

I get a deal on FEDX..once reboxed the tool cann be there in 2 days. Its a heavy **** though!

Tony has a post in the "What did you do today thread that includes driving the car, so there's some hope that the new bearings are installed.

Victor, please pm your address to Tony and CC me too. At some point I'd like to get the tool back, either to me or to Rob E, on the off chance that someone else might need it.

We bought the kit several years ago now, with the idea that it could be acquired for about the same cost as Jules Hauer wanted for replacing the bearings in my car. Then others could use it, pretty much for the cost of shipping. It has been all over the country as well as getting a few clinic workouts here on the hill. It's available to rl members for shipping costs, plus replacement costs for damaged pieces. Upgrades and add-ons from users include a bearing splitter and bolts compliments of Dave (Sharkskin). At some point soon a real shipping crate will be needed to protect the plastic case. The padded cardboard box method isn't really up to the weight of the package. Looking for a volunteer for this, else I'll have to break out the saw and screwdriver soon.

Tony--

Won't help any with front bearings. Do the same "heat the hub, freeze the bearings" trick with the cups and you'll be fine.

B90 goes to Victor next, please. Is everything still intact in the kit?

I saw that shipping has taken its toll on one of the hinges on the plastic box.

I have access to lots of tools and shop stuff. I also have access to a few laser cutting machines. Let me see what I can come up with for case. I 'm thinking I can have my buddy at the laser shop next door cut up a nice sheet metal frame for it. I will know more when I get it.

Here's how I did it before I had the B-90 kit.

Note I did some things the hard way. You could modify what I did with Colin's clever variations, etc.

I haven't seen any shipping info to Victor yet, so it's still with Tony in LV I guess. Anybody?

I'm happy to loan the tool out to users. I would like to know where it is though. If it ends up sitting for extended periods we may need to discuss a rental program or get a deposit. Needs to come back here after Victor please. I haven't seen it myself in a couple years now, maybe it's time.
