Just wondering if aney body knew like sunroof/non sunroof production ratio, my 82 has no sunroof and almost every other 928 i see has one, would that make my car kinda rare?

Probably most of the cars without sunroofs were the early ones. I had a '78 Euro without one and I have a low mileage '79 sitting in my garage right now waiting for a paint job that doesn't have one. Not too many that I've seen.

The sunroof was part of the standard package for the USA market after about 1981...Euro cars were more often none sunroof (no sun in Europe ?) I have only seen ONE S-4 in the US without a sunroof had it been a 5 speed I probably would have bought it. I told Dewayne H. all 6 ft 6 inch of him about the car and he bought it ! Now he really NEEDS the extra head room. Also MOST USA 928s were NOT ordered and speced by the buyer they were sent to the dealers as inventory and they had to sell what they got so the tendancy was to load them up and stuff in an automatic. Remember the 911s did not offer an automatic for much of the time that 928s were being made. As far as "rare" being of any importance it probably makes little or no difference in value. That said I would not pay more for a none sunroof car but simply will not buy one WITH a sunroof....or an automatic.

The owners manual warning..."Do not operate the sunroof at driving speeds exceeding 60 mph..." is reason enough not to want a sunroof

Jim,
I often wondered about that statement. Has it been determined what would happen if you DO operate it above 60mph? Was Porsche worried about sucking the hatch glass off due to the pressure or what?

More likely that the sliding lid might be pulled up and get scratched as it moves in out of the pocket in the roof . There is a low pressure area above the sunroof at speed.... My issues are the lack of headroom , weight , potential for leaks , and parts are $$$ for a very small opening plus I never use the darn things anyway.

I always thought that above those speeds the spring can no longer hold the deflector up due to the wind and air could blow into the cabin messing up the hair of the dentist's wife's passenger ![Big Grin](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
