Glad the day turned out well. Congrats on your track beast! I hope you have a blast with it! Wish I could have stuck around, but it was time for me to go.

See you on 2/13!

Hey we did a open track day last January, and it was cool but our times were just as they always are. I dont think its the traction of the track. Or the tires. There are a few areas that I saw where you can pick up a bunch of time. Ill ride with you next time we get out there together. I think there is an event in early march. we ran near the same times as you and paul were running in our race in the rain at t-hill early in the year. Pauls "Run Flats" are real street tires and should hurt him about 4 seconds vs an R-compound.

You looked like you were getting in the groove out there. Its only going to get better each time you hit the track. Its a great car and with one full day under your belt on the track, its all downhill from hear!

I cant wait to go for a ride!

When are you going to finish the cage?

You really missed out on the final 1 hour open run group....I was out there for around 30 minutes straight and only passed 3 cars (1 Civic twice)....that was sweet....I kept looking at the tower for a checkered flag that never came....I started getting tired so I brought it in for the day....I was looking around the track and honestly think there was only 4 cars out there! I guess all the volvos had to go pick up the kids from soccer practice? the bummer is my camera got stupid...so I don't have any video...

You gotta get out there with us!!!! Only $99 on Feb 13th and they'll give ya an instructor if you want! Or just show up one day when I'm there and I'll give ya a ride!!! (assuming the group allows passengers, but most I run with do)

MK
The plan is to fix a couple small things over the next couple weeks, or until I get the weather forecast for Saturday the 17th, which is the PCA DE at Thunderhill for CHEAP too ($150 with the late fee)....so if the weather is good I will make that one too....maybe you could instruct and get a "free" day?

After that they will finish the cage and a bunch of other little things....I should have an accurate corner balance weight # soon too! With only about 40lbs of gas...its probably in the low 2700's

After that its NCRC on Feb 13th...maybe NCRC on the March 21st...maybe PCA again on March 28th......TEAM is there on April 3rd....then for sure SAMOA charity event on April 20th and the next Volvo club on the 27th.....

If I could get it out at least once a month that would be great....

I just checked out the web site and am STRONGLY looking at doing the 13th. It is a work day but I am going to look into getting coverage. As we have talked before you get more bang for the buck on track days vs auto-cross. I may have to switch the auto-cross funds for a few track days. Yeah I know that's how this whole thing starts (track=crack)

autocross = 3 min of track time per event
DE/TT/RAC = 60-120 minutes of track time per event.

20 to 40x more bang for the buck!

yes, track time = crack

Be afraid....VERY afraid of the "TRACK CRACK"...... Lets see I think I'm on track day #10....8 in sharky (very fun on the track, since its far easier to drive than the widow) 1 in the M3 (the "hand of god" computers work quite well at keeping you on the track, as I FOUND OUT) & 1 in the Widow....more to come!!

Or if you are looking for a Ton-O-Track crack (oops I mean Time) the Volvo club (thats who I ran with Saturday) has another event on April 27th.....$210...I'm sure there will be more cars than last time....since there was a grand total of 25 cars for the whole day Saturday...11 in my group, 6 intermediate (where I would run in other groups) and 5 in beginner.... As the video shows....it was basically an open track.....typically there is 25 cars per group!!

Your car looked great... You made up some good time in the turns much quicker then the vette but it looked as if the vette had 50-100 hp on you as he would walk away on the straits. Are you going to add a SC?

Looks like fun. Can't wait for the snow to melt and get back to driving.

Is there a reason why you tie your belts extra length to the rear bar other than keeping it from flapping about?

I usually roll up the extra and run a zip tie through the center and around the roll to keep it from flopping around.

Around here, some DE events are 2-4 hours of track time per day for 1-3 days.

Brian, Finish the cage, get your NASA comp license, and go play in GTS Challenge (which is finally going to California this year).

I don't know why the race shop did that (I'm not doing most of the work on this 928)? I also prefer the rolled up on the main bar look...I will ask them about it? However I could hear them flapping around...a bit....which is rare with no sound deadening, only two small mufflers and 6000+rpm at 100+mph....in short the Widow SCREAMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NASA GTS and SCCA ITE are the groups I plan to race with once I learn how to DRIVE.....

My "big picture" plan right now is to do DE-track days for the rest of this year and hopefully get the suspension-handling tuned how I like, get my SCCA race license next year (2010)...do the full SCCA ITE season in 2010 and possibly a few NASA GTS races (we'll see how time-budget allows) I hope to get at least 12 events this year.....

I've also only driven on Thunderhill....so I need to learn Laguna and Sears too before I can race there...so thats on the "list" as well for this year!
