Default Sliver Knit carpeting vs. non-original

Decided to change carpeting in the 89 - the Sliver knit while in good shape looks like hell. Carpet was recently steam cleaned but the problem of the fuzzy and balled-up yarn was still visually unacceptable. Spoke with Robert Budd at the 928 Leather Shop (sponsor) and he suggested the velour used in Mercedes as it will not ball up. Ordered the full set, received after a couple weeks, color is a perfect match to the old and the carpet is light years nicer than the Sliver knit. I know, I know, its not OEM, but appearance wise there's no comparison.

Great tip. What's the approximate price difference, if you can say?

One thing Mercedes does best is choose the best materials of construction for their cars. Their carpeting is far superior to anything used by Porsche.

BUT.....I can't complain because Porsche spends that money making cool suspension bits and more power from the engine.
