If I can find a shop to di it at a reasonable price I may consider it so I can run 315s 18. With my current rims I will max out with 275. Hmm, or I can put 315s on the Forgelines but they are 17"

One of my future projects is going to be taking a set of phone dials and machining them into centers that accept 18" inner and outer hoops. At that point, widths and offesets are infinatly adjustable. Somewhere out there in the vast web I once saw a picture of someone's 911 and he had the same idea. I've have been kicking myself for a few years for not saving the picture and info.

Tass,
I too am in love with the phone dial look. I've got some 16s that I want to have painted by the shop guys up the road, and having them widened would be cool, but alas, the tire issue...

I thought about cutting out the PD's some years back in hoping to mount them to 18" hoops so I spoke to a couple of wheel companies about this.
As far as they were concerned, it was not possible. I couldn't give you a decent reason why at this time since I abandoned the idea back then. I think it had something to do with the overall integrity as the center would not have been designed for the lateral forces if cut out and remounted. I think they also scratched their head on how it could actually be done.
My thoughts were to not necessarily cut out the center, but to remove the rim lips from the center. This way you have more material to work with (larger diameter) and rivet through to attached to the inside and outside hoops. Seems like this would have to be done on a lathe.
I think the best approach, though more expensive, is to CAD the PD and have the centers cut out of billet aluminum in 18" or 19" centers. You can have the same design, but the issue is the front offset. Using a 2 piece hoop, you would have to have the outside hoop specially made to keep as close as possible to the original offset. As we all very well know, the center protrudes out further than the outer rim lip. I guess this goes for the original cut out idea as well.
It would be nice to own a foundry huh?
That way you could cast your own wheels.

How would you do 315's, do you have a bodykit? How wide would you go in the front then?
