Default Best Automatic Transmission Fluid?

I don’t know if it’s a volatile subject like motor oil nor do I recall seeing any threads so I’ll through it out there. Is there any consensus on what's the best ATF to use?

I’ve been using Mobile 1 for the past four years and can’t complain, but not sure it’s worth the extra coin. It worked great until most recently and now it’s time to do a pan drop.

I’d like to know if money was no object what would you use as well as what to use given the current economy… no sense in wasting money if I don’t have to.

What do you think?

I've been using Redline FLM fluid for 15 years & it still chirps the tires after
150K. The FLM is thicker than Dexron types. I always add a can of K & W
Trans-X as well. Keeps the seals & o rings pliable.

Maybe I should of asked who is cooler… Sidehatch or Danglerb?

So it’s unanimous… Redline it is!

Is the K&W Trans-x roughly the same stuff as Lucas Oil Treatment?

Because if it’s all the same, I’d rather support the Colts!

Come on guy's. Anyone else have an opinion?

I posed a similar question when I did the A/T oil/ filter change and was informed that most ATF's are synthetic so the bigger $ for the name may not be prudent.

That said I filled my A/T with Mobil 1 and have no issues...............cheap insurrance IMHO.

BTW.............Sidehatch came back

I haven't found anything that works as well as Trans-X. Once my son had no reverse in his Buick. We dropped the pan & there was clutch material in the bottom. We put the pan back on, put in 1 qt. of Trans-X & his reverse came back, albeit for two weeks! At work, we've put it in cars with the routine hardened seals problem, (delay in engagement in cold weather) & after a day's circulation the seals soften up & they run fine. I've used it for 30 years & recommend it highly.

I just did a google search for Trans-X.......do you have a link? I'm pretty sure the sites I found are not related to the product you are talking about..... Unless this mystery fluid is produced by women with extra body parts.

Here's a couple without any extra genitalia

I'm not finding Redline "FLM":

http://www.redlineoil.com/products_g...8&categoryID=8

Using the right search terms turned up tons of discussions on the subject.

Looks like conventional wisdom dictates getting a good synthetic like Redline or Mobile 1 (or others if you prefer Royal Purple, Amsoil, Etc.) and use K&M Trans-X. Lots of favorable traffic related to Trans-X being the best additive… as far as best ATF; not so much agreement.

All one could ever care to read about ATF opinions can be found right here:

Oooops, you got it!
After looking at Redline's website, it seems they've replaced the F-L-M fluid with the Racing ATF.
