Default I'm sorry I didn't stop

I was in California Last week around the Lake Tahoe area and I saw a Porsche club doing a little rally along the lake shore and I noticed a gray 928 in the group.
I tried to turn around and catch up to them to check out the cars but no luck.
I think it was Wednesday we left Tahoe and we where on our way to Vegas down 395 just past 120 and I saw the 928 getting ready to be loaded onto a flatbed. I want to stop but my wife gave me " the look " when I said I want to stop to see if the owner needed any help.
Since the tow truck was there and he wasn't totally stranded I didn't stop, I hope everything worked out ok.

Regards
Matt

That was likely Mike McC with his purchased-in-Monterey GT. LH brain failed. He was/is on his way home to Georgia and was stranded for a day there in Lee Vining. REplacement shipped from Jim @ 928 Int'l got him going again. He should be in NM or OK by today, on to Ga with just one or two more stops.

Tell your wife that there's a code of honor, a 'golden rule' among 928 owners that says you really do need to stop even if the flatbed is there. Karma dictates that your good intentions will be rewarded later when some problem creeps up on you and you are on the side of the road with only the flatbed driver for company. Pay it forward!! A hi and hello, confirm that things are in fact under control. Takes just a few minutes, and nobody is in such a great hurry that they can't take a few minutes.

395 @ 120 is about 5 miles south of Lee Vining.

Lake Tahoe & Lee Vining are very close - in Nevada terms. I've driven from one to the other a couple of times. Beautiful roads fro a 928!!

Lee Vining isn't the worst place in the world to get stuck for a day either - there is a decent restaurant there and as mentioned, beautiful Mono Lake.

Just think, how many times you might ever have a chance to assist someone, especially another 928 owner stuck somewhere in the middle of somewhere.

Your Ole lady sounds like being a good samaritin is not one of her strong suits.

RV ..........somone had to say that...........But if the shoe fits

reminds of a story a few years ago when i was living in Salt Lake.
I went to to Denver to pick up my new Rover Disco a 2003, I had my gal fly in and picked her up at DEN, anyway next day we were passing just north of Moab on I 70 and decided to stop at the I 70 and 191 junction.
In the wide open deserted parkinglot was a Nissan Sentra with 3 people in it Tenessee tags and a oil spot under the car, ( there is nothing there except a deserted gas station and 2 on/off ramps.
So we went to the Sentra and found that the driveshaft had poped out of the transmission on the passenger side its a FWD car.
So now what??? we were miles from anywhere, atleast 30.

As we were thinking of what to do and how to get help..........just then ...... beyond belief, a Chevy dually pulls in with a car trailer and its empty.. I walked over to the driver and asked him his direction of travel, he said he was going to Green River to pick up a car, . So I asked him if we could load this Sentra on his empty trailer and he drop it off in town as these people were stranded.
Next thing we know we are following this Dually, with the Sentra on the trailer, the 3 passengers are now riding in the back of my new Disco and we are heading to GRiver. We dropped the car off at the repair shop did some driving around to get a new CVjoint/axle and seal and then dropped the people off and continued on our way.
My gal was right there with me helping to calm the stranded people and make it possible to finish their journey .
What a opportunity /experience that was....

The July issue is one of my favorites. Don't worry, you are in good company.

Ok ok ok I posted this expecting a beating and I deserve it.
You are all so very right except for one thing I forgot to mention by wife is not the bad person here. One of the main reasons we went on this trip was to go to Yosemite and when we started going up 120 into the park the clouds where very low it was starting to rain at 6000 feet I think you don't actually even enter the park until 13000 feet , well for those of you that have never been there the road is on the side of shear cliffs and I WAS FREAKING OUT ,no guard rails , narrow lanes and did I mention I was driver this POS rent a car ( Pontiac GP ) that I was not used to.
I was freakin STRESSED.
I just knew it was snowing further up the road and I couldn't gather the nerve to drive it, at about 8000 feet I turned around and canceled that part of the trip.
My wife was a little upset and very disappointed.
Needless to say we had just turned onto 395 from 120 when I saw the 928 and I felt really guilty stopping and doing something I really wanted to do when I had let my wife down on something she really wanted to do.
She never tells me NO, not ever when I built my 24x40 heated garage with a lift.
Anyway thanks for giving me crap.
Dr Bob , I'll let her know at any other time I know she would have encouraged it.
Randy, very funny sign me up.
Mrmerlin, I know and I will always remember your story to do the right thing regardless.

Has anyone heard from Mike?

Regards
Matt
