Have I found them all (Engine bay fuel hoses)?
Hi, 1990 S4 Auto
I got my fuel line replacement kit from Roger a few days ago & installed it today. I replaced the following lines:
- front line between fuel regulator & injector rail,
- rear line (pre-curved) between fuel regulators at the rear (below air cleaner),
- Line from front of right rear fuel regulator to fuel cooler,
- fuel return line near jumper post in right front of engine bay.
Have I got them all?
I still have 6 clamps & some fuel line left over - can anyone point me to where these are meant to go?
Thanks,
Myles

The fuel actually flows the other way. The line by the jump post comes from the fuel pump, and feeds around from there. The last thing that happens is the fuel goes through the fuel cooler before returning to the tank.
I'm pretty sure the one you're missing is #5 listed here (five FI lines to replace and fuel flow order):
1. The feed line from the fuel pump is the one by the front right (near the jump post).
2. Then the fuel goes across between the fuel rails to the fuel damper in a hard line. The rubber line that connects the damper with the front of the fuel rail (PS in US model) is the one with the fittings already on it. (Porsche part that's still available)
3. There should be one that goes from one pressure regulator at the back of the engine bay to the other one. (pre-curved)
4. There is one that goes from one fuel pressure regulator to the fuel cooler line.
5. Then there is one more at the back of the fuel cooler line between where it's mounted to the rear of the engine (under the air box) to the line connected to the firewall. From the fuel cooler it goes back to the tank.
The extra clamps are probably because Roger sends out one kit for all MYs, and some have shorter hoses, and some have a couple of different sized fittings. One kit fits all...

Thanks Mike.
I could see two lines connecting to the fuel cooler but one appeared to be a metal one (as far as I could see). I will investigate further.
Cheers,
Myles

There's 4 'rubber' lines in the newer MYs engine bay. The cooler return line is metal to the tank where there a small rubber piece attached to the fuel level sender at the top of the fuel tank.
I just looked at your avatar pic and your RHD...........dont know if that makes a diff.

Cool! One more shark is good for another 20 years.

I include more hose and extra clamps than are actually needed.
Just so that if anyone screws up there are spares.
Well done!

So, since Search may bring people to this thread regardless of MY, here is a good place to post pictures of the old hoses on a 1984 USA. (ROW cars are reportedly different):
NOTE: Early cars, like this one, have 8 short hoses, each connecting fuel rail to an injector ---- these get cooked and must be replaced, too. I think its all included within the kit! Four hoses plus the 8 short hoses.
Pics below are fuel feed (passenger side, shot from below car)

I should have kits available for the early CIS cars and the US cars very soon.
Thanks to owners like Chris Toft and Mike Frye we will have the ability to cover all MY and save our SHARKS.
