Default transmission swap '82 to '85 - parts needed?

Looks like I finally found a transmission for the track car.

I am getting an '85 5 speed from DC Auto

Will this be a direct swap or will I need newer style parts / cross member or any other parts in the drive train?

Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I don't think the 85 should cause a problem with the 82. Its the 78 stuff that I know to be different.

Can I ask how much the 85 trans was?

sure I don't need anything?

Any WYAIT items?

I paid $1,200.00 including freight to Fort Lauderdale. I am not sure if it is an LSD, but seems like a fair deal anyway.

Selector arms on top of TT are different between '78-84 and '85-95. If you want selector to have anywere near correct movement you need to change them.

that sounds like a lot of work that I was not planning on.
What happens if I leave it as is?

Its simple swap. I mean just two arms outside gearbox on top of TT. When you change gearbox its very easy to drop TT also and put pieces together on the floor including selector adjustment.

I **think** you are going to need a TT and a rear cross memeber

Well, I mean, personally, I would take it apart... But thats me - and rebuild it. Its condition is unknown.

Less than that, at least the front and rear shaft and flat seals. Maybe a simple "look in the top" typeof spray cleaning with brake clean and then recoat with good fluid.

Thanks Jim, what's your thought on the Selector arms on top of TT. Do I have to change it? If so do you have the parts I need?

The answer to that question would be revealed with this- is the lever system attached to the body or the TT in the 82

They are somewhat different but I do not KNOW what that does to the feel of the shifting. Note that our short shifters are two different parts as well ! Yes I should have the rods .
