The Holy Grail is getting the kinks worked out of a 928 so that it's reliable as a daily driver. My 928 is an every day driver. After some considerable preventative maintenance stuff and a few minor fixes, it hasn't given me any problems in about a year. Except, last weekend a mirror glass fell out and broke. Old age does take a toll. Staying ahead of the curve is the trick. And buying a 928 that someone else spent a fortune on before selling to you helps too. The challenge is knowing when to hold them or fold them. A good PPI helps immensely.

I'm back to mine as the DD, it gets better milage than my Jeep Wrangler. At 70 mile round trip to work--it saves me about $30 a week. And, I've noticed a lot less drip marks on the floor now that I drive it every day. Or maybe it ran out of oil and trany fluid(?)

The 81 is my daily driver until the heavy rain starts, then it's the blazer until the rain subsides.

My 84 is my DD. I put about 300 miles/week on it.

The wife drives the 79 as the DD, 7 miles each way. I drive 52 miles each way to work and drive the Vette. I do drive the 79 to work a couple of times a month to blow it out so speak, as my wife never gets over 55mph.

I bought my 1991 928 GT new in April, 1991, and it has been my daily driver the entire time, though it now shares the duty with my 997 (since May, 2006). The car has over 186,000 miles on it.

Currently use mine every day. Clocked up 15,000 miles in it so far this year.

I've driven mine everyday for 3-4 years, through Chicago winters, rain, whatever. It hasn't let me down yet.

My homemade solution--custom made from fiberglass casting material for my coffee mug--clips on so no sticky glue or screws needed. Only downside is that it only fits my mug, no water bottles or soda cans allowed.

oh, and yes mine is a daily driver (rain or shine) but I do have a jeep wrangler sitting in the driveway when the shark needs attention. It's been reliable so far but I am the wrong person to ask since it's only been in my family since this past May.

I could drive the Jeep but come on, really? do you think I'm going to grab those keys if I have a choice?

I drive mine about 75 miles a week. But...that's because I'm close to everything.

As many have said, once a 928 is "sorted out" they are very reliable with not too much maintainence unless you get unlucky...... I used sharky as a daily driver for a few months until the new DD arrived...once I fix a few issues in the next couple weeks I will split time between sharky and the new DD.....unless I sell sharky first?

I drive Rosy daily, unless I need the van for other chores, trips, or events. Rosy gets the best mileage, except for the bikes, of all the vehicles.

And, except for about a year and a half, from very late '02? until early '04? And when they start throwing salt around, until about three weeks after they stop, and the rain falls, Rosy is a daily driver; too much fun to be missed!

We bought Rosy in May '01, with 69,591 miles on the clock. In late '04, after the OCIC event in Wichita, KS., the odometer quit, with 101,375. So, that's 31,784 miles, in about 16-17 months driving time??? So no idea what total real mileage is now...

But, I've been to all the SITM events since, the OCIC event in Denver, '06, at least to one of the Frenzy's in D.C., various other trips and events...

So, I'm thinking I may be over 160k?

Anyway, NOW my wif is agitating to get me involved with having the interior redone!

New convert to the 928 world and really enjoying this thread, especially reading the long time owners' enthusiasm after many years of driving the same vehicle. Impressive. Now looking to buy a '87-'95 5 speed to use as a daily driver, but I know I first have a lot to learn before purchasing one.
