Keep us posted Ken - and good luck with the project. Just one comment - I wouldn't be able to tear my engine bay apart and open up all them holes with all that debris in there

Supercharger and fans out. Next stop oil lines and radiator.

I only got about an hour in today - time to get ready for my son's football game - probally won't be able to get anymore done this weekend.

Just pulled the radiator - wife is yelling at me to get ready!

I found part of the reason for all the oily goo - the lower oil cooling hose at the radiator was loose - not even finger tight.

I'm off to my football game!

Tip: get a piece of cardboard big enough to cover the radiator face. First thing you do after removing the fans is tape it on.... The last thing you do before installing the fans is take it off. A dropped or slipped wrench will ruin your day.

Yep, radiator out. I think I have new PS lines lying around somewhere, do replacements are in the plans. I'm also planning on replacing the resevoir.

Got to spend some time on her last night. Dropped the alternator, unhooked the fuel lines, dropped the exhaust, and removed the lower bellhousing cover.

Tonight, after my son's football practice, I'll drop the AC compressor (going to replace anyway - no refrigerant in the system), pull the PS pump and the air pump (if possible) - just want to give myself some clearance.

I've probably got at most 3-4 hours in this off and on (and that includes pulling the intake) and I reckon another 1 1/2 to 2 hours until I pull the motor - not bad!

AC compressor out, as is air pump and PS pump. Starter out. Engine ground straps disconnected I think I've just got to disconnect the torque tube - I think I'll pull the motor with the upper belhousing attached, and remove the motor mount bolts.

I'm missing the rear lift bracket so I got one on order from 928 Intl. 10 mins here and there and I should have the motor out by the weekend.

Well, its only been about 3 months since I last had a chance to work on the car - work and kids have kept me way too busy.
Anyway I penciled in some time to work on the car yesterday, and lo and behold, the engine came out!

I've decided not to rebuild the engine but to go with a lower mileage one apparantly in great shape from a fellow lister.

Any "while you are at its?" while I am in the bay - clean up obviously. It has a newly rebuilt rack and tie rods. I also have new motor mounts on hand. Anything else?

Oh, almost forgot - I scored a complete 5-speed drivetrain from a 50k car - for $1,500 - so until it arrives I'll be dropping the rear end and getting it ready for the swap.
I'd like to go to a Stage II on the SC, but my finances are going to be tapped out for a while!

Ken,
May want to do the power steering lines. Do you have the clutch master firewall bracket also? Get the gauges also if you can.

I have just ordered the bracket from 928 Intl. I also have a tach from an 86 manual - I am hoping that will hook up. Power steering lines on the list - thanks.
