Default Mystery connector 87s4

On the wiring harness that bassically goes to the tranny, this connector branches off. Just a single wire..single plug. Cant for the life of me see where it goes? I thought it was the tranny temp or overload connection but its not?
87s4 A28 Auto

TIA

Don't know what that is, but damn, there is no dirt on that car. Very nice.

Hi Tony
That looks like the connector for the transmission protection switch. See page 3-19 of Tech info for MY87

On second thoughts, it may be the ATF temp switch connector on side of the 'box, see same page diagram...

I think that plugs in at the kick down solenoid? Up behind the plastic fluid container rear of the tranny it plugs in on top of the black solenoid.

In the pic the black thing with the bolt right under the tranny mount. Thats the solenoid. It plugs into it you just cant see the hole in the pic. The receiver is a stud like single connection and it will snap onto it.

From the big book of How We Built Them...

"To start the assembly process, a qualified technician (either Hans or Fritz) will pick up the rear wiring assembly, including the cable to the kickdown solenoid, and start wallking down the assembly line area. Following the pink line on the floor for alignmnet guidance, other technicians will proceed to bolt body and driveline parts to said rear wiring harness until the car is complete and can be driven from the assembly area."

I think this pretty much implies that you'll have to take the whole darn thing apart and start over. This time, remember to follow the pink line on the floor.

cut and splice

Seriously. The tranny has to be lowered to get the harness up and over and into postion so that single wire will reach.
