The bracket and calipers solve the difficulty of going from an axial to a radial mount. The outlaw calipers are axial. They seem like a good size for most uses.
I know that everyone always wants huge brakes, but the real issue is good strength and pad contact, as well as heat dissipation.
I can easily lock up S brakes. But that doesn't mean much if they overheat on the track.

I wouldn't want to be the first person to try that.
My 79 has custom spindles made by Todd to hold the S4 brakes.

Well, we all don't have front-door service access to Todd. ![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Obviously the adaptor should be made in steel and not aluminum.

The calipers are 200 each or less, actually.

The pad area is 46.5cm - not too bad. Very strong caliper.
Pad choice is obviously unbelieveable.
You can get over 300mm rotors with 1.25 width - good mass on those for heat issues.
he rotors are no more than 150 each.

So I don't know how this compares with finding:
BB calipers, and probably rebuilding them.
993TT rotors: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/_Car-Truck-Parts-Accessories__Porsche-911-993-Twin-Turbo-Front-Brake-Rotors_W0QQitemZ280272901063QQadnZCarQ20Q26Q20TruckQ20PartsQ20Q26Q20Acce ssoriesQQadiZ2865QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item280272901063&_trkparms=72%3A543 |39%3A1|65%3A12|240%3A1318&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245

Between 450 and 520 for the pair. Thats hefty.
I think it comes down to consumables, at least on a heavily driven street car and a track car - how much for constant replacement.

The hats are not really a consumable. And you need new custom hats on an S4 suspension to run the 993TT rotor anyway.
How much swept pad area is on the BB?

I put Wilwood Dynalites on my FTO, much better than stock, excellent gradual & predictable increase as you push the brake pedal further. Have them over a year now I think. Once I get my 79 on the road properly I'll be able to comment on comparisons.

The only real problem with the Willwood calipers is I think they don't have dust seals. You will end up rebuilding them every couple years. It's not too expensive though. That, and the pads also rattle in them. They are more of a "race" caliper than a "street" caliper.
