Not sure about the installer but Ray Wach in the discussion is on the 928 Rennlist Email group.

Sounds interesting but I wonder why the installer has stayed at the factory spec's?

Looks interesting. Maybe it is set at stock for now, to verify operation, and will come into play when additional mods are made - like an SC for example.

I think it's explained both in his commentary and in the google thread. The former explains that the range of adjustment is fairly minimal, the latter makes the point that a wideband O2 sensor (and dyno, probably) would be required to acurrately tune the software map. Probably not much performance there for N/A cars, I've been following it mainly to see whether they could improve the tuning of the mixture with respect to ambient air temp and throttle demand. Sounds like improvements were marginal-- but it might open interesting possiblities for folks exploring supercharging (using the unit that reads pressure rather than vacuum), head work and/or higher flow CIS injectors. I just dropped the coin to have my WUR rebuilt/recalibrated (to stock), or else I might have given it a shot.

On my Euro S someone put an electronic injector on the top of the WUR. It was connected to a black box under the dash which is connected to a O2 sensor in a poorly constructed cross over pipe.

I am assuming this is for smog control, but does open up some other interesting performance ideas?

It may have been required when your euro was federalized. The "injector" is actually a frequency valve to adjust the control pressure based upon the O2 sensor reading. If it's working OK, I would leave it alone.
