Default Fuel sending unit removal

I drained my tank today to see if there was anything - bad stuff - in it and I could lift the fuel sending unit up just enough to see in, but it didn't want to come out. Could someone tell me if there is a trick here. It seems as though it should just lift out, but it won't and since it works perfectly now, I didn't want to "fix it till it was broke." I did!

Thanks
Rod

There is a "cup" on the bottom of the sender, and it fits closely through a hole in a "slosh plate" near the bottom of the tank. Maybe it's hanging up on the slosh plate. Try wiggling it around a bit as you gently pull upward.

Rod, Mine has done this too. DO as Dave suggests - wriggle and jiggle, it should come out...

Yup, it should lift straight up and out.

Good job on draining the tank before doing it. Just never pull one with a full tank. WSM says to have at least 5 gallons from full before doing so. On one, I pulled one out and didn't know the tank was full. That was not fun at all.
