I went thru this in 1994. I sold my 1969 W-30 to keep the peace. Well, not only was the car gone, but I got divorced anyway. Should have kept the car, worth maybe 50,000 today. Marriage was not worth crap.

Liquidate. You can always pick up the pieces when the dust settles. Trying to hold onto everything is just a headache. Easier to be mobile with less crap. It's actually rejuvenating to start over.

Best of luck to you.

You must of missed the part where he has no plans to start over but only do whatever it takes to appease his 'bitch' of a wife...

just get a new wife then

i agree with Keith though that it is rejuvinating to start over. I think you only need 1 928, keep the 5 speed GTS, dump the S4 for whatever you can get and start looking for wife #2

if you sell that 928, now you have a bunch more community cash, you could loose half that in a divorce. If your going down that road with 2 928, you can split them and give her the auto and keep the 5 speed, she would love that!

Depressing to read through this.

Why just give up on something you enjoy doing...

When I got married I made the decision to pare down on my hobbies. I focused on the one hobby I have always loved since I was toddler, cars. My wife knows that this is a part of me and she encourages it. I have also toyed with starting a business related to my love and I think I may have found a niche which she wants to help me with.

As others have mentioned, a good relationship requires some give and take on both sides otherwise forget it. I wonder if David is giving us the whole story.

You're right...missed it. Not into the drama so I skipped over some pages. My advice there...Sell the GTS and buy a set of *****.

If not for the 3 kids and the child support/alimony a divorce would generate, I'd agree with you. This situation is BS.

Having a great love of your 3 kids gives you the ability to withstand any bitch on earth.

When some of you guys finally have kids, you will change your priorities.

Some of you have great wives, but mine is bipolar and crazy as hell.

She's already saying 'don't sell the new one..blah blah blah'.

I say bull****, that one goes too, it will only be the target of one of her later 'issues'.

She knows I have been trying to sell the S4, I get calls on it about once a week.

She has it made.

In her mind you just spent 40k on a car that looks the same as the 87s4. Then you put another couple of grand into it!!!! She just doesn't understand 928 economics

David, I was hoping things would cool down over 24 hours. My advice would be to sell the S4 and keep the GTS but I'm not privy to your personal situation.

I'm probably older than you (married 27 years with 3 kids). Fortunately my kids really like cars so that helps with my interests. My wife is not as interested in them as she once was, however, she is interested in "wheeling and dealing" so she pretty much took care of the sale of my '34 Ford street rod and purchase of a GT3. She knew this would allow me to devote more time to work (ie. generate income).

She really doesn't drive my 928GT or the GT3 but she does like to keep me happy and vice versa. Her peripheral involvement with my various "collections" of firearms, guitars, beer coasters, cars, etc., give her a stake in it too. Psychologically I believe it's a small comfort to her but she is a very giving person (me too). YMMV.

My vote: Don't be too rash; keep that GTS, it's a beaut!

Hey, I know, sell all your ****, become resentful and depressed, wake up every day saying life's a BITCH and so's my wife.

That'll show her.

You had 3 kids with a bi-polar woman?

If I was the counselor, I would want to see a complete listing of the toys each claims the other has and how much time you typically spend with them each month. We're only hearing one side and only seeing your list (if your sig line is any indication).

Bi-polar is TOUGH to deal with. BE SURE to give her the medications she has been RXed and if she has not been given anything GET HER IN TO SEE A REAL PSYCH MD! It is a VERY difficult disease to deal with for all involved, including any/all children! If/when you find the right meds and keep her on them, everything will be smooth...if she goes off (because she feels better...DUH the meds work!) then things will quickly go to hell in a handbasket again!

Good luck...tough gig this...
