David, show her this thread when it peaks. Only not directly, like que it up and leave your comp. open where she can see it. She will feel guilty and try to make it up to you. I mean possibly/maybe

David take this one step at a time. Sell the S4 and pay off the bills that your wife is complaining about. I also suggest starting a "car fund" where you can hide some money or establish a budget for the car that you and your wife agree upon.

If money isn't tight it might also be a good idea to take her out shopping for something she's always wanted. Then she can't complain

Mine does. I bought one of DR's bee-utee-ful billet oil caps at the frenzy, she comes into the garage last night and sees it. All she said was how gorgeous it is.

We don't have bill problems, she just tries to add weight to her argument that I have too many toys by throwing that in there.

If we had bill problems she would have a job.

I just need to dump out the toy box and grow up.

She is very happy, we just bought her a $2500 black and white Tennessee walker and $7000 '03 Gore trailer. Like I said, she can keep her possessions, those things make her happy, and I like her to be happy.

But my **** needs to go. I can stll be happy without cars and motorcycles.

David..........NO, you don't need, or shouldn't have to do that.

Didn't you just get this car? I say sleep on it. Or you can do what Bigs did. Put a really high price so that its sure to never sell. That way you have done your part. "But honey, it is for sale".

NO****!

If she is worried about the bills and the toys, she can get a job and support hers. I'm sorry if my posts sound harsh. If my wife came to me and said to get rid of the cars I'd do one of two things. I'd rather spend my free time in the garage.

1. Start going to bars after work. After all, a man can have fun at home with his "toys and hobbies" or start having his fun and relaxation time some place else.

2. Divorce her.

Maybe I'm not seeing the entire picture here, but I know that being married involves compromise and acceptance of ones passions and hobbies. What is going on there where she doesn't accept that? Is she thinking of the savings/retirement account? Is she pissed that the passion you have in the cars takes up more than the time you give her? (I'm guilty of this)

Or is she just trying to reel you in?

Something does not compute here. I admit I am spoiled so much that my wife let me go from a real job to working my "hobby" as my real job, but damn, I can't fathom this.

the fact that this post even included the wife part, in at best an unflattering posture, means that this really is more than about just selling the toys. Methinks David is seeking our broader advice here, or he wouldn't have cracked thaat little door open.

Sorry to barge in here as I'm new, but let me get this straight, she can have her "toys"-(horse or what ever a Tennessee Walker is) but you can't any of yours???? From what you've mentioned:

1. Your financially secure
2. Providing well for your family.
3. She thinks you need to "grow up"
4. Feels your "toys" are interfering with Her (whole family's) happiness?

Let me tell you friend, and take it from a man married to the same women for 17 years, getting rid of your Sharks and other "toys" ain't gonna fix it. You need to really sit down and talk with her and find out the truth to what is really bothering her. And getting that out of a women is harder than fixing the worst 928 electrical problem one billion times over!!! Just exaggerating a little, but you two really need to talk and work this out. Good luck!

-Joe

P.S. Don't sell anything right now, you may come to resent her for it later.

Oh man.............. a horse woman..................... I know what that is, and lived through a horse woman once for a few years. That addiction makes 928s look like nothing!
With a (typical) horse woman, the man comes last on the list.

What David is doing here is known as reclaiming the moral high ground in his marriage.

Sometimes not a bad idea. But David...

1. You've got to be dead serious about going through with all the sales. Otherwise it becomes like the Little Boy Who Cried Wolf. Or a "suicide gesture." If you're using this simply as a threat - and your real hope is that the mere threat makes her back down - she won't back down for long. The same toys will soon bug her again.

2. You need to make sure she isn't displacing her displeasure over something else onto your toys. Otherwise, you'll sell the toys... only to have her find something else to bitch about.

So...

Here's what I might suggest: Compromise.

Why don't you offer to sell off all but 1 or 2 of your favorite toys? She gets to keep a couple of her toys, you get to keep a couple of yours. If she wants you to give up more than that, then she has to also give up something.

You may need to remind her that keeping a married man happy is very simple - cuz we men are simple creatures. All it requires is:

1. Feed us.

2. Make love with us cheerfully and enthusiastically.

3. Let us do at least one "guy thing" without complaining.

You may want to underline #3.

Sorry David. This whole thing only makes sense if your other toys include an airplane, that you fly without her; A motorcycle that you ride without her; a boat, that you use without her; a cabin at the lake, that you go to without her, and a motor home that you vacation in without her.

You get my drift. If money is no issue then it must be how you spend your time.

If money is no issue and she's getting all the quality time with you that she want's, then it's obvious.

She's just mean.
