I started using 10W40 (High Mileage) M1, because Rotella 5W40 Syn is now more expensive per quart at Walmartland. ($23/5 quart vs. $20/4)

I also dumped in a bottle of STP goop, per Hacker et al's recomendation.

Will the mobil 1 filter work on our 928s. I was told that porsche filters are the most effective or was this just propaganda.

i was actually just thinking about this. Cause if the filter is a 928 flter then this is a good deal, but the porsche filter is much taller then any other filter ive seen. The 928 filter looks like something on a large diesel truck. But i cant recall ever shopping for a fram filter or something and finding it for our cars. You can find something in the same diameter but i doubt it will be as deep or have the same capacity as the factory filter which is a monster.....and thats a good thing

If you use Mobil 1 filters not a bad deal. Why not buy the filter for another one of your cars and use a porsche filter on the 928? I typically use factory filters on all my cars (volvo & mitsubishi).
I think same 5qts at Walmart runs about $22.
