Still trying to find why the tachometer is not working

This morning I swap the instrument cluster with the one in my '87. Still no RPM. I put the one from the '88 into the '87, RPM OK. So it is not the instrument cluster - witch is a good news

Is it possible to use a spanner to detect if the engine speed pulse into the ECU is OK ?

Thanks

if the engine is running then the crank position sensor is good, you should check the CE panel for the correct connections, get a fuse relay chart here www.928gt.com

Mrmerlin,

I checked the CE yesterday (for the second time), swapping fuses and relays. Still the same, no Tachometer.

I found in another thread the color of the wire for the RPM feed. I will take a look at it tonight.

Thanks

I trying to locate the tach lead wire on my '88 S4. Do anyone know what is the color code for that wire?

From a previous thread, it is supposed to be white/blue.

Anyone can confirm?

A wire was cut behind the CE between connector W and J.

Probably by the PO . It was a very clean cut. But I have no idea why.
