Default Selling my '89 GT

I finally made the decision. I love this machine. But I've just bought a piece of land, and I won't have a garage for at least a year. And I simply don't drive it. I've had this car for five years and put about three thousand miles on it.

I know there was at least one forum member who really wanted this car.

It's black. It's a GT. It has new tires. AVS 100's? It has about 130k miles on it. Occasionally the low oil light comes on. The driver's seat has a thin spot in the leather that is raspy. A few square inches of torn up leather. I never cared. The hood has a few spots that need paint. Early on I tried rubbing out a couple of paint chips. I foolishly rubbed too far. And I put on the stainless muffler from one of the companies here. I'll have to get reciepts. But I have the stock muffler in storage.

It's early. I'm half awake. If there's any interest I'll dig out more info. And photos.

Greg,

You need to post a price and need to be a member to sell your car here. However... looks nice!

Whoops, I'm no longer a member!

I'll have to change that. I'll be right back...

I don't have a price. Any thoughts on what these go now?

I'm thinking if it's in primo condition...maybe 10K tops

Just kidding....
Just a total biased swag...start at 15K..and more likely around 20K..all depending on condition...

good luck on the sale..

A GT should be about $20k depending on mileage and general condition.

That wasn't funny! But it WAS better than a cup of coffee. You should have seen my reaction.

The low oil pressure lite would scare me if I was in the market. Anyway, good luck with the sale. Nice looking car.

Larry

I think this could be low oil as in low oil capacity.

I think its odd cause every engine from this vintage that ive seen has that sensor broken and it doesn't work at all. So actually, maybe it is low oil pressure, but if thats the case then i would have HUGE reservations too.

I seriously doubt it's a problem. It's a very rare occurrence. It only happens after long runs and only when it's down on oil slightly. And I think even the way it's parked, such as on an incline. I guess I shouldn't have mentioned it. I just like to spell out everything for people. I certainly appreciate it as a buyer. In all 3000 miles, I've had it happen less than a half dozen times.

Unless it's unreasonable, I would like to ask what I paid for it. That was $16,900. But for now I'm going to head over to ebay and see if I get any response.

That's a very good deal to get in on the most exclusive of all 928's. It's a 89 GT folks...100ish made..first of the GT breed, it's black/black (fastest/best color combo), no finicky PSD to deal with ...just LSD, old non-air bag dash..but has digital cluster. Sounds like someone can get this one at a bargain, and bring it up to stellar 928 condition...sure to maintain it's value over other comparable 928's...
Yea...I'm a little biased..

i maybe interested

I would like to see some interior pics and would like some more details

about the oil light. Is this an oil pressure warning, or low oil level warning? They are 2 different things with 2 very different prioritues if you ask me. Oil level is like a nanny, oil pressure is LIKE SOMETHING YOU GOTTA PAY ATTENTION TO.

Could be a bad sensor, who knows, but its nothing to shake a stick at. And a half dozen times in 3,000 miles seems like something that should be given immediate attention.

but again.......i maybe interested..

Ryan, it's an oil level light. No, if it were pressure I'd be all over it. It's a nonissue.

It's going to take me some time to get photos. I'm now living on a timber ranch with no house, no electricity. I've just welded up a "portable" generator, and am busy working with planning and consultants, etc. The basic problem I have is that there is no place to detail the car.

Oh, it also has a new windshield. The stock one. Not some cheap thing.

It has all receipts ever paid. Rather a lot of them.

At any rate, I'm not going anywhere in a hurry unless someone just wants it in it's undetailed condition.

Gregg: It isn't clear where you settled. Randy is going to be asking you. Is $16.9 is the price? Inquiring minds want to know.

Alright, I'll get photos. It's on the list of things to do. But I've got a geotechnical engineer to locate today. I can't wait to have an actual garage!
