2.54 vs 2.20 means that with auto the 3-4 shift is 122 vs 140 mph. Tested under controlled conditions.

The 89 is definitely a rare beast. Are you certain it's not a GT with PSD (Standard on a GT)?

Not in '89 GT. 40% ZF LSD was standard in them and PSD wasn't available at all until '90 MY.

In ROW '89 GT's RDK was standard AFAIK. It wasn't available at all in US cars in that MY. In ROW '89 S4 it was rare option.

'89 S4 should have rare 2.64:1 rear end IIRR. In ROW cars change wasn't that big as '87-88 have 2.54:1. Personally I would prefer US '87-88 2.20:1 above any other 5sp since its really stupid to rev as large engine as 928 close to 3000 rpm at highway speeds.

Look at PET 305-05 for the internal bits , it is the discs which wear. The 928 332 551 00 is about $50 each uses two...

You may be able to live without LSD now, but eventually you will care and wish you had all the performance related stuff. Inevitable.
Deal breaker...

Sounds like a personal choice and prob depends on your driving. It's already been cited: are you going to track it? If you choose to add it later, it is going to cost.

A 928 to me is a cruising car for lookin' good and rolling in comfort.

Mine has the LSD, according to my option list... but I don't really care. It's an automatic 21 year old car. Bling Bling.
