Default First 1300 mile road trip in my 89 S4!

Have had my 89 s4 for about 7 months and after replacing timing belt, water pump, Porkens tensioner, radiator, plugs, wires, distributor caps, plugs, A/C work, wheels and tires, brake pads, various other items...it did great! I now have the confidence to drive this car anywhere. 1300 miles without the slightest hick up. Never ran any warmer than a tad above the first white line. Only got about 17 miles per gallon so I may still have a small issue there...I would think it should get alittle better than that.
Met my younger brother in Gulf Shores Alabama with his 2005 Boxster S and traveled some 300 plus miles in tandum...lots of fun. I was a little surprised to compare the two cars in size. One would think the 928 is much bigger but its not. Our cars do FEEL bigger inside. These cars are meant to be driven...so DRIVE!

Very nice. I'm planning on doing the same kind of work to my '87 and take it on a trip (not 1300 miles though!) Glad you enjoyed yourself. It's a cruis'n machine!

I've never seen a side-by-side of a 986 and a 928 before.

Wow. The 986 looks positively chubby next to the 928. How'd Porsche make a car the same size as the 928 with fewer cylinders and less interior room? Heh...

I really like my brothers S but I agree...the interior is VERY small in comparison to the 928. The driving position is VERY upright as well. I posted pics because I was surprised how they sat side by side.

Cool pics. I hope mine will do at least 13 miles in the near future.

That model Boxster is actually a 987 (S in this case)... Of all the Boxsters the current model comes closest to what they SHOULD have looked like from the beginning. That said, other than the convertible aspect of the Boxster I'd take a 928 over that any day!

Would you ever think there is 16 years difference in age in these 2 cars??? The 928 is truly timeless IMHO.

Thanks for the pics.

It really is amazing how modern the 928 looks, definitely still looks the part next to the modern day Porsche.

Has your brother driven the 928 and what are his thoughts?

No he hasn't...I offered many times but he refused. I have no idea why....I have driven his Boxster many times.

^^^^^^
He knows it will ruin him for life! LOL!

I really like the handling of the Boxsters, but on anything close to an open track my S4 would eat them up! YEA BABY!
