Default Broken Hose Connector Extraction Tool

Greetings All,

Recently I had to extract the broken pieces of my carbon canister 'Y' connector from their hose ends recently. They were tuck in tight and quite stubborn. My solution was to screw a corkscrew into the remaining plastic pieces and pull them out like a wine cork. It worked beautifully!
I hope this little trick can save someone else some time, frustration, hose replacement, scrapped knuckles, etc....

That's good. I just squeezed the hose end with some pliers. The remaining plastic connector piece broke into bits and fell out.

+1 on Bill's suggestion to squeeze hose. I was finding it ridiculously hard to extract the old connector pieces when I renewed carbon canister y-piece. Then I remembered tip here in past about squeezing hose with pliers and it took just seconds to get old arms out the hoses after cracking them.

More like a nutcracker technique than a corkscrew (on my vintage 1988 S4), but always handy to have recourse to alternative techniques so thanks for tip.

I always thought cussing profusely and throwing a tool would make the pieces surrender and come out with their hands up.
