Good thought Brian, many of the racers book ahead for the next year while they're at Sebring. Are you planning to attend Daytona?

Speed Park is located very close to the International Speedway, pretty much right across the street. They have three Go-Karts tracks & the Nitro Alley, where you can drive a dragster in a controlled environment(or maybe it drives you). They also have an arcade too. There is another Kart track in Port Orange, it also has mini-golf, but thats much further away. Not sure if there are any others closer, there might be another one at the beach.

Speed Park is really popular due to the location, etc. I would think Sat. afternoon would be our best bet since Friday night is their "teen night" & Sunday starts their "Nitro Alley Challenge" as part of the Biketoberfest festivities.

Here's their web link if you'd like to check it out further: http://www.speedparkdaytona.com/index.htm

They do have some pricing special coupons on their web site that you can print out, such as the normal two hour wrist band thats normally $25 for $19.95. Might be something worth us all printing ahead to save some $$$.

FWIW, I like the go-kart track at Daytona Lagoon on the beachside near the Ocean Center the best. Speed park has the location but I think the other track is more fun.

Work might win this time. It has been an extremely busy season and with one coworker having bad health issues and another attending a wedding that weekend, I might not make it.

Sorry you can't make it Brian, Daytona in Oct is always a fun time for car races & 928 socializing. Catch you at Sebring in Feb.

Hey Mel,

Do you still want me to bring the RV out to the Speedway for the weekend, as our 'home base'?

Yes, most definitely bring the RV as our home base, that'd be great! I don't think George A is planing on bringing his, think he prefers to drive his shark & "camp out" at the hotel on the beach. Can't say I blame em one little bit!
Hey, give me a call when you have a minute, I started to call you earlier today in fact.

I just booked a room for this weekend. There are I think, 2 rooms left at the Comfort Inn and they are still honoring the discount (with a little persuasion). Sounds like a great time and I look forward to hangin with some other obsessed 928 peoples. I am getting in friday afternoon. What is the weekend event schedule like?

Hi Jim,

Friday is when some are getting into town, so we play that by ear. Once you're squared away at your hotel, if its before 5pm, you can come by the track & register & sign the waivers, get your arm band for the weekend. If you come in the Turn One gate off Williamson Blvd., they can direct you to the building you need to go to, just before you enter the tunnel on the right.

Once inside, just drive into the infield & look for Russell's RV which should already have the 928OC banner on it & some 928s around it. My wife & I are volunteering Friday afternoon to help PCA, but they'll be others around I'm sure. Depending upon how it goes, we might head somewhere to eat as a group. Either way, we'll end up gathering back at Russell's RV for some social time that night.

Most are in by Sat., & filter in during the morning. After watching the races, we plan to head to the go-kart track sometime later in the afternoon(3-4pm); then go to dinner as a group that evening. Sundays everyone is on their own, some stay most of the day for the rest of the races, some head home in the am. I'll send you a pm with my cell # & you can call me once you hit town if you'd like. Look forward to meeting you & glad you can make it!

Don't forget. Bring sunblock for the daytime and bug spray for the evening.

I will plan to park the RV out at the track sometime on Friday. Same spot as last year, against the infield fence just before the "dog leg" turn 5. Here's a track map for any first timer's, the big RED dot will be us. See you there
