Bad wiring to fuel pump, or bad pump. Using meter, check for 12V on pin 30 of fuel pump relay. If 12V found on pin 30, locate connector pin T5. check for no/lo resistance from pin T5 to pin 87 of FP relay. If found, check for good continuity from pin T5 to + of fuel pump. If found, check for good continuity from other wire at fuel pump to chassis ground, if found replace fuel pump.

<edit; just jumper 30 to 87 on the FP relay and check for 12V at the fuel pump. Faster, and more deterministic. >

928sRUS has them in stock. Don't forget the crush washers, and check for leaks when you put it back in.

Try and take the pump out and run it in reverse. some times the pump gets stuck.

if you run the pump backwards try adding some WD 40 to the outlet so this will help to carry away any loose debris, you might have to do this a few times to remove all of the stopage, then the next question is whats the condition of the fuel tank outlet filter( this is where the fuel pump hose attaches to)

I'll try pulling the pump and running it tomorrow. The car did sit for quite some time [how long I don't know]. I might get lucky.

Okay, yes it might go around for a bit. It may even run for a month. But it won't last for long. Just go over to Dribble Oak and get one. Even Roger's pump gave out, it's a wear item, and if it's been dry it's a goner.

OTOH, you could rig up a vacuum line from the intake to the front seats and drive around while spritzing carb juice. Oh, I kill myself sometimes.

Hey, wasn't I supposed to shut up about this car way back? WTF?

all my 3 928s that i have rescued from sitting have needed new fuel pumps its almost a given for some reason bosch found it ok to use regular ferous iron for the rollers and housing in the pump there for dry pump means rusted pump even if u get it to work it prolly wont last long and a new pump is less than $250 make sure u get a bosch original though i have tried the aftermarket ones that r a little cheaper with no luck whatsoever ie didn't work at all if u want to be really cheap a VW rabbit fuel pump from thew auto wreckers will work as long as u get the cap nut to replace the hollow bolt and remember no jump starting that car u will fry the brainbox charge the battery outside of the car power circuit good luck
